Job Overview:
The Senior Driver position at UNESCO is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of the Head of Office, UNESCO officials, staff, and visitors. The role requires a high level of responsibility and professionalism, as the incumbent will be tasked with driving senior officials and ensuring their safety during transit. The Senior Driver will also be expected to meet officials at the airport, assist with visa and customs formalities, and provide translation services when necessary. This position is not just about driving; it involves a comprehensive understanding of vehicle maintenance, traffic regulations, and the ability to coordinate logistics effectively. The Senior Driver will play a key role in facilitating the smooth operation of the office by ensuring that all transportation needs are met efficiently and safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Driver will undertake a variety of duties including: driving the Head of Office and other high-ranking officials, ensuring safe and reliable transportation; meeting officials at the airport and assisting with visa and customs formalities; translating in the local language when required; coordinating routes and schedules for drivers and vehicles; instructing other drivers on traffic and safety regulations; ensuring proper upkeep and maintenance of vehicles; preparing vehicle maintenance logs and reports; ensuring all necessary documents and supplies are available in the vehicle; delivering and collecting mail and documents; and performing basic clerical duties such as photocopying and filing. The role requires acute attention to safety and security matters, as well as the ability to respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary, technical, or vocational education and possess a valid category B driving license held for more than 5 years. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience as a driver. Skills in vehicle maintenance and basic automotive mechanics are essential, along with a thorough knowledge of Uzbek traffic laws and regulations. Candidates should demonstrate efficiency, tact, discretion, and keen observation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes completed secondary education, technical training, or vocational education. A valid category B driving license is mandatory, and candidates should have held this license for over five years to ensure they have the necessary driving experience and knowledge of road safety.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a driver is required for this position. Experience within the UN system or an international organization, as well as familiarity with customs procedures and protocol, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience in vehicle maintenance and a good understanding of defensive driving techniques.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of Uzbek, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Basic knowledge of English is also required, while good knowledge of Russian is considered a desirable qualification. Additional Notes:
The position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 2 years, which is renewable based on performance and organizational needs.
