Job Overview: The position of IT Auditor with Banking Experience is situated within the Office of the Executive Auditor (AUG) of the IDB Group. This role is designed for an experienced IT audit professional who possesses a strong background in auditing private-sector banking activities. The primary function of this position is to support risk-based audit and advisory engagements that encompass various aspects of banking operations, governance, risk management, internal controls, data, and technology. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct thorough evaluations of banking operations, including treasury, investments, capital markets, lending, liquidity management, and financial risk management. The role also involves assessing the design and effectiveness of financial, operational, technology, and data-related controls, thereby ensuring that the organization maintains high standards of governance and risk management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IT Auditor include conducting risk-based audit and advisory engagements that cover a wide range of private-sector banking activities. This involves evaluating banking operations, assessing governance and risk management frameworks, and reviewing internal controls and business processes. The auditor will perform interviews, walkthroughs, testing, data analytics, and documentation reviews to identify key risks and control gaps. Additionally, the role requires the development of process maps, risk and control matrices, and other essential audit documentation. The auditor will also conduct data analytics to support audit planning, testing, continuous auditing, and reporting. Furthermore, the position entails evaluating data governance, data quality, cybersecurity, technology resilience, and third-party technology risks, as well as controls over emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. The auditor will be responsible for preparing audit reports, presentations, and other deliverables in accordance with professional standards and AUG methodologies, and will communicate audit observations, conclusions, and recommendations clearly and constructively to management and other stakeholders. The role also supports annual audit planning, strategic initiatives, and the implementation of AUG's strategic business plan, while promoting innovative audit practices and sharing knowledge on governance, risk management, controls, banking activities, data, and technology.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, or a related assurance function, with five years being preferred. Candidates must have experience assessing governance, risk management, internal controls, and business processes within regulated financial institutions. Additionally, experience auditing technology risks and controls, as well as familiarity with data governance, continuous auditing, cybersecurity, cloud environments, and technology resilience, is essential. Proficiency in using data analytics in audit or risk assessment activities and experience developing process maps and risk/control documentation are also required. Preferred qualifications include experience in AI-related governance and risk considerations, auditing treasury operations, investments, derivatives, or capital markets, and exposure to first-line business functions and second-line risk, compliance, or control functions. Certifications such as CIA or CISA are strongly preferred, while CFA is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a CIA or CISA certification may substitute for an advanced degree, highlighting the importance of formal education and professional certification in this role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as internal audit, external audit, risk management, or related assurance functions. However, five years of experience is preferred, indicating a strong emphasis on depth of experience and expertise in the auditing domain, particularly within the banking sector.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in one other Bank official language, which could be Spanish, French, or Portuguese. This requirement underscores the importance of effective communication in a multilingual environment, especially given the IDB Group's focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as an international staff contract with an initial duration of 36 months, which is renewable upon mutual agreement.
