Job Overview:
The Product Owner position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency. This position is designed for an experienced professional who will act as a Business Analyst for the Capital Markets line of business within Treasury. The role involves understanding business needs related to liquidity management, minimizing gaps and redundancies, and ensuring that product-based solutions align with strategic guidelines. The Product Owner will also be responsible for documenting business requirements, analyzing various scenarios, and preparing test cases to ensure the successful implementation of applications that support the business unit. This position requires a strong understanding of the World Bank's loan products, capital market products, and investment products, as well as the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to drive the development and delivery of IT products that maximize business value.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as Business Analyst for Capital Markets line of business within Treasury, focusing on Liquidity Management, Issuances, buybacks, derivatives, valuations, trade life cycle, accounting, and debt allocation.
  • Build stakeholder consensus and ensure alignment on proposed solutions.
  • Develop business cases, requirements, use cases, test plans, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with fiduciary reviewers and support security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security testing.
  • Participate in the procurement of COTS solutions, including preparation of RFPs and cost estimates.
  • Prioritize requirements and maintain project scope.
  • Document business processes and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Tech Leads, and Developers to determine feasible solutions.

  • Provide support for the design, testing, and implementation of applications. 1
  • Maintain a comprehensive trail of requirements and contribute to project change control. 1
  • Evaluate new products and determine technology support required. 1
  • Analyze gaps between current and desired states and propose recommendations. 1
  • Coordinate with vendors and oversee their deliverables. 1
  • Train business users on applications. 1
  • Uphold established processes and quality standards in Business Analysis. 1
  • Troubleshoot systems in a post-production environment and provide solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience or a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the Treasury/capital markets domain. The position requires substantial experience in risk management within a globally-distributed enterprise. Candidates should have advanced degrees in Computer Science, Finance, MBA, or related fields, along with 8+ years of professional experience in capital markets. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, as is the ability to present concepts to senior audiences and ensure clarity in business architecture definitions. Teamwork and consensus-building skills are crucial, as the World Bank operates in a multinational, multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Finance, or an MBA. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered. Candidates should have a strong foundation in the principles of Treasury and capital markets, as well as advanced knowledge of financial instruments and risk management practices.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or at least 7 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have substantial experience in the capital markets domain, particularly in risk management, liquidity management, and related financial processes. Experience in a globally-distributed enterprise is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of delivering results under pressure and managing complex projects.
