Job Overview:
The Shelter, Land and Site Coordination (SLSC) Sector Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Shelter, Land and Site Coordination Cluster at both national and sub-national levels in Haiti. This role involves ensuring effective, integrated, and protection-centered service delivery through strengthened partner coordination, evidence-based planning, and robust monitoring, reporting, advocacy, and accountability mechanisms. The SLSC Sector Coordinator will provide operational coordination for the merged Shelter, Non-Food Items (NFI), Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), and Housing, Land and Property (HLP) functions. The position is critical in a context marked by recurrent natural hazards, displacement, urban violence, and tenure insecurity, supporting a coordinated, area-based, and protection-sensitive humanitarian response. The role will also ensure alignment with national coordination structures, humanitarian partners, local authorities, and affected communities, while maintaining the capacity to respond rapidly to emergencies and support durable, community-centered solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the SLSC Sector Coordinator include coordinating SLSC activities in Haiti to support a predictable, inclusive, and accountable response. This involves organizing regular coordination meetings, maintaining partner engagement, facilitating information exchange, and following up on agreed actions. The Coordinator will support the establishment and functioning of coordination mechanisms at national and sub-national levels, promoting effective partner participation and operational coverage. They will coordinate the development and implementation of SLSC operational priorities, workplans, and technical guidance. Additionally, the Coordinator will represent the Sector in technical coordination meetings, support information management, reporting, and field monitoring activities, and promote the integration of humanitarian principles and relevant international standards within Sector activities. The role also includes supporting resource mobilization, emergency preparedness, and advocacy initiatives, monitoring Sector performance, providing technical guidance and training to partners, and undertaking duty travel as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with seven years of relevant professional experience. Experience in humanitarian coordination, shelter and settlement programming, and emergency response in conflict or disaster settings is essential. Candidates should have experience in evidence-based planning, needs assessments, and coordination products that inform decision-making. Familiarity with humanitarian planning and reporting cycles, as well as experience in engaging with UN agencies, NGOs, and government counterparts, is also required. Strong analytical, facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills are necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields is acceptable if accompanied by seven years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received their education from recognized institutions.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience in humanitarian coordination, particularly in shelter and settlement programming within displacement contexts. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in emergency response settings, including conflict and post-conflict environments, and natural disaster scenarios. Experience in supporting evidence-based planning, needs assessments, and coordination products is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have experience in Shelter, Settlements, CCCM, HLP, and related coordination areas, as well as familiarity with inter-agency coordination mechanisms and sector strategies in humanitarian operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) and/or Haitian Creole is considered an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
