Job Overview:
The District Project Coordinator is a critical field-based role responsible for the implementation of integrated sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence (GBV) interventions in assigned districts and municipalities. This position requires maintaining regular engagement with various levels of government and coordinating with implementing partners to ensure the quality and effectiveness of programs. The coordinator will work to connect local implementation efforts with broader provincial and national systems, ensuring that services are delivered in a rights-based and inclusive manner. The role involves policy advocacy, technical assistance, and community engagement, with a focus on vulnerable populations such as women, girls, adolescents, and persons with disabilities. The District Project Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring program quality and results, ensuring that interventions are aligned with UNFPA's strategic goals and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support policy advocacy, planning, and budgeting processes at the subnational level by assisting municipalities in integrating SRHR and GBV priorities into their plans and budgets.
  • Facilitate evidence-based dialogue with local government officials to mobilize resources for SRHR and GBV services.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of effective laws and policies for improved access to integrated services.
  • Support municipalities in conducting periodic reviews and implementing accountability tools for service provision.
  • Coordinate the implementation of program activities in line with approved workplans and budgets, maintaining regular communication with local authorities and partners.
  • Monitor the quality and inclusiveness of training and community initiatives, ensuring alignment with rights-based approaches.
  • Conduct field visits to assess implementation progress and document lessons learned.
  • Promote a safe working environment and support safeguarding measures within the program.
  • Engage in humanitarian preparedness and response efforts, ensuring continuity of essential services during emergencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field, along with 4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a secondary-level education in the aforementioned fields and 7 years of relevant experience will also be considered. Demonstrated experience in program implementation, coordination, and monitoring at various government levels is essential. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and GBV prevention is required, along with experience working with local governments in Nepal. Familiarity with UNFPA's mandate and relevant laws and policies is advantageous.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field is required. Candidates with a secondary-level education in these fields must have additional relevant experience to qualify for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in program implementation, coordination, and monitoring at the provincial, district, or municipal level. Experience working with local governments and understanding of rights-based approaches is crucial. Familiarity with humanitarian preparedness and response is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali, both oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the district where the position is based will be considered an advantage.
