Job Overview:
The District Project Coordinator is a field-based position responsible for facilitating the implementation of UNFPA-supported integrated sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence (GBV) interventions across assigned districts and program municipalities. The role involves maintaining regular engagement with provincial, district, and local authorities, coordinating with implementing partners and service delivery actors, monitoring program quality and results, and supporting timely follow-up and reporting. The District Project Coordinator connects municipal implementation with provincial and national level systems, institutions, and policies, ensuring that SRHR and GBV services are planned, financed, delivered, and monitored as an integrated, rights-based, and government-owned system. The incumbent will work across various sectors, including health, social development, justice, education, and protection, with a focus on marginalized populations such as women, girls, adolescents, young people, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ persons, Dalits, and others who are often left behind. This position is crucial for translating UNFPA's strategic outcomes into coordinated action at sub-national levels, ensuring effective delivery of planned results through collaboration with local governments, community organizations, and development partners.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a secondary-level education in the aforementioned fields with extensive relevant experience is acceptable. This educational background ensures that the candidate possesses the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively address the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as gender-based violence issues.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in program implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting at various governmental levels. Experience working with local governments in Nepal is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with the local context and the specific challenges faced in delivering SRHR and GBV services. Prior experience with UNFPA or other international development organizations is an asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the organization's mission and operational framework.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali (oral and written) is required for effective communication and reporting. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the district where the position is based will be an advantage, as it facilitates better engagement with community members and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support policy advocacy, planning, and budgeting processes at the subnational level by providing hands-on support to municipalities to integrate SRHR, GBV prevention and response, gender equality, and social inclusion priorities into their plans and budgets.
- Facilitate evidence-based dialogue with elected representatives and government officials to mobilize co-financing and prioritize financial resources for integrated SRHR and GBV services.
- Assist local governments in formulating effective laws and policies for improved access and quality of integrated SRHR and GBV services.
- Support municipalities in harmonizing inter-departmental coordination among health, gender equality, education, and finance sectors.
- Facilitate the implementation of national and subnational laws, policies, and guidelines related to integrated GBV and SRHR services.
- Conduct advocacy activities with local governments on cost-sharing strategies for GBV and SRHR service provision.
- Support the implementation of program activities across assigned districts in line with approved workplans and budgets.
- Maintain regular liaison with local governments, implementing partners, and community networks to ensure timely completion of agreed actions.
- Monitor the quality and inclusiveness of training and community initiatives, ensuring alignment with rights-based and gender-transformative approaches. 1
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits to assess implementation and service quality, documenting results and lessons learned. 1
- Promote a respectful and safe working environment, supporting partners to understand and apply safeguarding requirements. 1
- Coordinate with disaster-management authorities to strengthen preparedness and continuity of essential SRH and GBV services during emergencies. 1
- Perform other duties as required by the supervisor or UNFPA management.
Required Qualifications:
