Job Overview:
The UN Intern in Cybersecurity will work under the supervision of the Information Systems Officer (Cybersecurity) at the International Court of Justice. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various cybersecurity tasks and activities. The intern will assist in creating documents, templates, and presentations in collaboration with the technical team, develop and review cybersecurity awareness materials, and provide basic technical support to users. The role also involves supporting the delivery of cybersecurity services in operations, architecture, risk management, and identity and access management. The intern will participate in reviewing documents, training sessions, testing activities, and resilience exercises, ensuring that all cybersecurity-related requests are logged, tracked, resolved, documented, and closed in the ticketing system. Additionally, the intern will assist the Cybersecurity Operations team in reviewing and tracking identified vulnerabilities and supporting the use and maintenance of cybersecurity applications and tools. This position is designed for individuals looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of cybersecurity within an international legal context.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation of documents, templates, and presentations in collaboration with the technical team.
• Develop and review cybersecurity awareness materials.
• Provide basic technical support to users as required.
• Support the delivery of cybersecurity services in operations, architecture, risk management, and identity and access management.
• Participate in the review of documents, training sessions, testing activities, and resilience exercises.
• Ensure that all cybersecurity-related requests are properly logged, tracked, resolved in a timely manner, documented, and closed in the ticketing system.
• Assist the Cybersecurity Operations team in reviewing and tracking identified vulnerabilities.
• Support the use and maintenance of cybersecurity applications/tools.
• Perform other tasks as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The incumbent must have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in information technology or a related field. Recent completion of or enrollment in a Master’s programme in the same field will be considered an advantage. A high degree of initiative, dependability, and the ability to work with little supervision are essential. The ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrate creativity, maintain accuracy in detailed project work, possess a sense of humour, and show a keen interest in learning are all seen as valuable traits for this position.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information technology or a related field. Enrollment in or recent completion of a Master’s programme in the same field is advantageous and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the internship.

Experience:
No professional work experience is required for this internship position. However, candidates should demonstrate a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently, which are considered advantageous traits. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and develop their skills in cybersecurity within an international legal framework.

Languages:
English and French are the official and working languages of the International Court of Justice. A good command of either English or French is required, along with a basic knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of other official languages of the United Nations would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
