Job Overview:
The WHO EPI Officer (NPO) position is crucial for supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Sudan, particularly in enhancing the planning, coordination, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI). The role emphasizes the follow-up of GAVI-supported activities and requirements, ensuring that immunization efforts are effectively implemented and monitored. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting analyses of immunization coverage, identifying barriers, and assisting the MoH in developing evidence-based national plans. This position requires a proactive approach to support the MoH in revitalizing EPI coordination bodies and ensuring accurate data reporting at all levels, which is essential for the success of immunization programs in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the WHO EPI Officer include:

• Conducting periodic analyses of immunization coverage by locality to identify bottlenecks and barriers to immunization, and supporting the MoH in developing evidence-based national plans.
• Compiling state and partner plans into a comprehensive EPI annual plan that aligns with the comprehensive Multi-Year Plan (cMYP).
• Supporting the MoH in revitalizing EPI coordination bodies, including preparation for GAVI coordination calls.
• Ensuring the accuracy of data and reporting for EPI at all levels, which is critical for effective program management.
• Following up with the MoH to incorporate their feedback into monthly reports from all states and ensuring the implementation of these recommendations.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the WHO EPI Officer position include:

• Education: A university degree in Medicine, Public Health, or Nursing is essential. A Master's degree in Medicine or Public Health is desirable.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in EPI programs is essential. Experience in a UN or NGO setting is considered an asset.
• Skills: Candidates should possess broad knowledge of EPI strategies, policies, and interventions. They must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing environments, take initiatives, and make recommendations. Additionally, candidates should have a proven ability to assess and analyze data effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a university degree in Medicine, Public Health, or Nursing as a minimum educational requirement. A Master's degree in a related field is desirable and may enhance the candidate's profile for this position.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in EPI programs. Experience working in a UN or NGO context is advantageous and may provide candidates with a better understanding of the operational environment and challenges faced in public health initiatives.

Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and Arabic is essential for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a National Professional Officer role, meaning that only applications from nationals of Sudan will be accepted. The remuneration package includes an annual base salary starting at USD 38,762, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Staff members are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
