Job Overview: The Project Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women's Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) portfolio in Azerbaijan. This position involves contributing to the planning, implementation, and management of projects aimed at enhancing women's participation in the workforce and engaging the private sector. The incumbent will work closely with the Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme Specialist and collaborate with teams across Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Europe and Central Asia Regional Office. The role requires a proactive approach to administrative and logistical support, ensuring that UN Women’s interventions are effectively executed and that planned results are achieved. The Project Associate will also be responsible for facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building within the organization and among partners, thereby contributing to the overall mission of promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and logistical support for program formulation and management, including preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals.
Offer technical guidance on routine delivery and reporting of program activities and finances.
Prepare information for audits and support the implementation of audit recommendations.
Assist in financial management by creating projects in the Quantum system, preparing budget revisions, and monitoring project finances.
Undertake logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events, including travel arrangements for the program team.
Support resource mobilization efforts by preparing agreements and compiling information from donors.
Facilitate knowledge building by synthesizing lessons learned and organizing training for office personnel.
Manage security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-related matters and assist in monitoring the implementation of security policies.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Completion of secondary education is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related fields being desirable. The candidate should possess at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, procurement, HR, or logisticssupport services. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (such as MS Word and Excel) is essential. Knowledge of UN Women/UNDP procurement and financial rules is an advantage, as is experience in gender equality and women's empowerment. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is also desirable.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement is the completion of secondary education. A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred and considered advantageous for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in administration, procurement, HR, or logistics support services. If the candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 4 years of experience is required. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages is mandatory, and familiarity with UN Women/UNDP procurement and financial regulations is a plus. Work experience in gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives is also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Azerbaijani is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and beneficial for the role.
