Job Overview:
The Vocational Education Assistant position is integral to the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) program at UNRWA. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief of TVET and will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the intervention cycle of vocational education projects, which includes on-the-job training and placement services. The role requires conducting market surveys to identify specializations that are in demand and establishing a network with employers to identify job vacancies. The assistant will also be responsible for advertising and registering applicants for vocational technical courses, communicating available job opportunities to trainees, and following up on the progress and evaluation of short-term courses. Additionally, the assistant will maintain an up-to-date database, prepare progress reports on conducted courses, collect success stories, and perform other duties as assigned. This position is crucial for ensuring that the vocational education programs meet the needs of the community and contribute to the employability of Palestine refugees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee the intervention cycle of vocational education projects, including on-the-job training and placement services.
• Conduct market surveys to define specializations needed by the market and establish a network with employers to identify available job vacancies.
• Advertise and register applicants for vocational technical courses, ensuring effective communication of available job opportunities to trainees.
• Follow up on the progress and evaluation of short-term courses to ensure quality and effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain an up-to-date database of course participants and employment statistics, preparing progress reports for TVET management.
• Collect and document success stories from program participants to highlight the impact of vocational education.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of TVET, contributing to the overall success of the vocational education program.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a two-year diploma from an accredited educational institution in economics, project management, business administration, or a DTC diploma in a related specialization. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of vocational education and training principles, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Familiarity with the local job market and employer needs is essential, along with strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders is also a key requirement for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a two-year diploma from an accredited institution in fields such as economics, project management, or business administration. Alternatively, a DTC diploma in a related specialization is acceptable. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of vocational education and the skills necessary for effective project management within the context of UNRWA's mission.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least two years of experience in educational projects, community-based projects, or youth projects. Additionally, a minimum of two years' experience with office practices is required. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage projects effectively, work with diverse groups, and contribute to the development of vocational training programs that meet the needs of the community.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of UN Level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages. While French is a working language of the United Nations, it is not mandatory for this position, although it may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a daily paid assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need. The daily rate for this position is $25.63, and the salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Employees will receive one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. This vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria are eligible to apply. UNRWA will not facilitate the issuance of work permits, and candidates without a valid work permit may have their appointment rescinded.
