Job Overview:
The position of Consultant for Interpretation and Audiovisual Support Services is integral to the successful execution of the event titled 'Education for Violent Past' organized by UNESCO's office in Guatemala. The consultant will be responsible for providing comprehensive linguistic interpretation and managing the technical audio equipment necessary for the event. This includes ensuring that all participants, numbering 45, can engage fully in the workshops and guided museum visits through effective communication facilitated by simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish. The consultant will also oversee the logistics of audio equipment, ensuring that all technical aspects are handled smoothly to enhance the overall experience of the event. This role requires a high level of professionalism and expertise in interpretation, as well as the ability to manage and coordinate technical resources effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will execute the following specific tasks as part of the event:

• Provide simultaneous interpretation services in English and Spanish during all workshop sessions for 45 participants over a four-day period.
• Supply and manage the technical audio equipment necessary for interpretation, including the rental of 45 receivers with headphones (with charged batteries), a transmitter for the interpreter, and a microphone.
• Conduct sound checks and set up the equipment prior to the start of the event.
• Administer the distribution, control, and collection of headphones among participants.
• Provide consecutive interpretation services during two field trips, facilitating interaction between the guides and the delegation. The consultant's deliverables will include effective interpretation services during the workshop sessions and museum visits, as well as a control sheet for the delivery and receipt of audio equipment to the satisfaction of all participants.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Translation or a related field, with technical or multidisciplinary training preferred. Desirable knowledge or studies in Computer Science or Social Sciences will be an advantage. Additionally, the candidate must be a certified interpreter and translator (English-Spanish) with extensive experience, specifically over 20 years, in interpretation for international cooperation events or public sector engagements. Proven experience in coordinating interpretation teams for groups exceeding 40 participants is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Translation or a closely related field. Additional qualifications in technical or multidisciplinary areas, particularly in Computer Science or Social Sciences, are highly desirable. This educational background will ensure that the consultant has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically more than 20 years in the field of interpretation and translation. Candidates must have a proven track record of providing interpretation services for international cooperation events and public sector projects. Experience in managing and coordinating interpretation teams for large groups is also a critical requirement, ensuring that the consultant can handle the logistical challenges of the event effectively.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are English and Spanish, with the ability to provide simultaneous interpretation between these two languages. Proficiency in both languages is essential for the successful execution of the role. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
