Job Overview: The position of Consultant for Technical Coordination of the Event Education for Violent Past involves overseeing the comprehensive management of a regional training event organized by UNESCO. This event, scheduled to take place from November 16 to 19, 2026, in Antigua Guatemala, aims to bring together over 30 educational policy makers from 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination among various stakeholders, including UNESCO, the Spanish Cooperation Training Center, and other allied institutions. The role requires meticulous planning and execution of logistics, participant management, and communication strategies to facilitate a successful event that addresses educational policies related to violent pasts. The consultant will also be tasked with developing training materials and ensuring that the event meets its educational objectives, fostering critical thinking and sustainable peace in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a series of duties and responsibilities divided into three phases: Pre-event, During the event, and Post-event. In the Pre-event phase, the consultant will manage participant coordination, technical and logistical arrangements, and communication with national and international participants. This includes handling travel processes, preparing detailed itineraries, and ensuring all necessary permissions for site visits are obtained. During the event, the consultant will supervise all activities, ensuring adherence to the agenda, managing unforeseen circumstances, and providing support to participants. The consultant will also oversee the documentation of the event through audiovisual means. In the Post-event phase, the consultant will compile and analyze feedback, prepare a final report detailing the event's outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for future initiatives. The consultant will also ensure follow-up with participants and address any logistical issues that arise after the event.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional background in cultural management, project management, international cooperation, public relations, communication, education, or related fields. A minimum of five years of experience in managing international events or projects involving over 50 participants is required. Experience working with UN agencies, particularly UNESCO, and in developing communication materials, including audiovisual content, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have at least four years of experience in the international cooperation sector, focusing on education, human rights, memory, and peace initiatives. Strong technical skills in office software and design tools, as well as excellent coordination and communication abilities, are necessary for this role.
