Job Overview:
The Project Management Support Associate plays a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of project activities. This position requires close collaboration with project stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and facilitate operations, ensuring that activities are delivered efficiently in accordance with the project’s results framework and internal processes. The associate will be involved in various aspects of project management, including stakeholder engagement, budget preparation, and compliance with UNOPS policies. The role is essential for driving impactful project outcomes through expert planning and stakeholder collaboration, particularly in the context of managing hazardous waste in Central Asia as part of the GEF funded project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Management Support Associate include:
  • Planning and Preparation: Supporting senior technical leads in stakeholder engagement, training needs assessment, and capacity-building programme development. Contributing to budget preparation, procurement processes, and risk identification with mitigation measures. Assisting in drafting project agreements and budget revisions.
  • Training and Implementation Support: Coordinating logistics for training sessions, workshops, and meetings, including venue arrangements and material preparation. Supporting the development of training materials and ensuring effective project implementation through liaison with service providers and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance: Developing and updating monitoring tools and progress tracking sheets. Collecting and archiving documentation related to training and project activities. Contributing to the drafting and quality assurance of reports and ensuring compliance with UNOPS policies.
  • Operational and Logistical Support: Coordinating procurement, travel, and inventory management in support of project operations. Managing project files and document management systems for real-time tracking.
  • Knowledge Building and Sharing: Supporting the organization and delivery of training sessions on project management and participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Project Management Support Associate position include:
  • A secondary school diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • A globally recognized professional certificate or membership in Project Management is desired but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in the use of collaboration and productivity tools such as MS Office and G-Suite is essential.
  • Experience in project management or related areas is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in multicultural environments or UN system organizations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess either a secondary school diploma with significant relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. A globally recognized professional certification in Project Management is preferred but not required. This educational background ensures that candidates have a foundational understanding of project management principles and practices necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires relevant experience in project management or related fields. Candidates should have demonstrable proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools, such as MS Office and G-Suite. Experience in multicultural environments or within UN system organizations, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in development or humanitarian contexts will be beneficial for candidates applying for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Tajik, and Russian is required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in these languages to effectively communicate with project stakeholders and ensure successful project implementation. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
