Job Overview: The Programme Analyst, Digitalisation and Innovation plays a crucial role within the UNFPA Tanzania Country Office, particularly within the Programme team. This position is responsible for providing professional support to effectively integrate digital solutions, data innovation, and emerging technologies into UNFPA Tanzania's country programme. The analyst will assist in identifying, developing, and scaling innovative approaches that contribute to achieving the three Transformative Results: ending preventable maternal deaths, addressing unmet needs for family planning, and eliminating gender-based violence and harmful practices. Additionally, the analyst will lead knowledge management activities, expanding and maintaining a knowledge base of good practices and innovative solutions to promote investments aimed at achieving UNFPA's transformative results. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender/Youth/Population Dynamics, and Data Monitoring and Evaluation, to ensure the successful implementation of the digitalization strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst, Digitalisation and Innovation has several key duties and responsibilities, including: A. Programme Management, Digitalization, and Innovation: Assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Country Office's Digitalization and Innovation Strategy and annual work plans, ensuring alignment with national priorities and UNFPA's strategic plan. Identifying, researching, and recommending digital and innovative solutions that can enhance the efficiency and impact of UNFPA programmes in SRHR, GBV, and Population and Development. Supporting the integration of innovative methodologies such as human-centered design and agile development into programme design and implementation. Contributing to the analysis of political, social, and economic trends to inform programme formulation and advocacy efforts. Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of innovation projects, defining key performance indicators, collecting data, and synthesizing results. B. Technical Assistance and Capacity Building: Providing technical and operational support to implementing partners and UNFPA programme teams on the application and scaling of digital and innovative solutions. Supporting capacity building initiatives for national partners and Country Office staff on innovation processes and digital literacy. Serving as a focal point for the innovation community of practice within the Country Office and promoting knowledge sharing. C. Partnerships, Knowledge Management, and Advocacy: Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with the private sector, technology companies, and civil society organizations to leverage resources for digitalization initiatives. Contributing to resource mobilization efforts by providing inputs for proposals and donor reports. Documenting and disseminating innovation results and success stories for internal and external communication. D. ICT Support Services: Overseeing the implementation of ICT management systems and ensuring compliance with corporate information technology standards. Providing administrative support by maintaining CO databases and coaching staff. E. General Support: Carrying out any other duties as required by UNFPA leadership.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in fields such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Innovation Management, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Health, Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field. Candidates should have 0-2 years of demonstrable responsibility or experience in digital transformation, innovation management, or programme management in the public sector, non-governmental organization, or development sector. Knowledge of the design, testing, and deployment of digital solutions for social impact is desirable, particularly in the context of sexual and reproductive health, gender, or population issues. Familiarity with innovative methodologies such as human-centered design or agile project management is a strong asset. Candidates should also have strong research, analytical, and excellent report writing skills, along with familiarity with UN procedures and working methods.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Innovation Management, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Health, Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of digitalization and innovation in the context of UNFPA's mission and objectives.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 0-2 years of demonstrable responsibility or experience in the fields of digital transformation, innovation management, or programme management. This experience can be gained through work in the public sector, non-governmental organizations, or the development sector. Candidates should have practical experience in the design, testing, and deployment of digital solutions or emerging technologies for social impact, preferably in the context of sexual and reproductive health, gender, or population issues. Familiarity with the political, social, and economic context of Tanzania and national development priorities is also important.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position. A working knowledge of Kiswahili and/or another UN Official Language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the diverse environment of UNFPA and its stakeholders.
