Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at UN Women involves supporting the planning and ongoing management of various programs aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the Caribbean region. The role requires providing administrative support for the preparation of program work plans, budgets, and proposals, as well as assisting with the implementation of activities, including mission travels and events. The Programme Associate will also be responsible for knowledge management and sharing activities, which include managing program materials, preparing public information materials, and compiling data for documents and presentations. This position requires close collaboration with operations, program, and project staff to ensure effective program implementation and coordination with various stakeholders.

Proficiency in information management and communication is essential, along with the ability to prepare high-quality materials for various stakeholders. Candidates should also exhibit adaptability, flexibility, and a strong sense of accountability in their work.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, gender studies, or a related field is required for the Programme Associate position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in gender equality or women's empowerment will be considered an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in program support, administration, or project management, preferably within the UN system or other international organizations. Experience working on gender equality issues and familiarity with the Caribbean context will be advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Caribbean region, such as Spanish or Dutch, would be considered a valuable asset.
Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role based in Jamaica, and candidates should be prepared for the living conditions in the country, which include reliable utilities but also high crime rates that necessitate security awareness. Volunteers will receive a formal security briefing upon arrival, and standard urban security practices are advised. The role may involve participation in various UN Women events and activities, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

- Supporting Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing Activities: - Managing information related to programme and project materials. - Preparing public information materials and briefing packets. - Assembling briefing materials and preparing presentations. - Gathering and compiling data for documents, guidelines, speeches, and position papers.
- Supporting Collaborative Activities: - Providing administrative support in monitoring budget preparation and financial reports. - Undertaking logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions. - Identifying and sharing best practices for effective project management.
- Assisting with the Organization of UN Women Processes: - Participating in workshops, retreats, and celebration days. - Supporting inter-agency coordination activities with partners.
