The trainee will work closely with the Head of the Space Resilience Office, engaging in a multidisciplinary approach that combines technical analysis with policy and geopolitical considerations. The position aims to enhance the understanding of threats to space systems, including cyber attacks and geopolitical tensions, and to contribute to the development of resilience strategies within the European security framework. The trainee will gain valuable experience in security and threat analysis, learning how to synthesize complex information and communicate findings effectively to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ESA Graduate Trainee include: monitoring and analyzing technical, security, policy, and geopolitical developments relevant to European satellite navigation and secure connectivity programs; supporting the analysis of threats affecting space systems, including cyber threats, radio-frequency interference, jamming, spoofing, and vulnerabilities across space, ground, and user segments; contributing to security, risk, and resilience assessments of space systems, services, and architectures, including identifying vulnerabilities and potential mitigation measures; tracking policy, regulatory, and strategic developments affecting European space security and resilience activities; supporting the assessment of security and geopolitical risks associated with international partnerships, critical technologies, and supply chains; preparing concise briefings, structured assessments, and strategic positioning materials for management, governing bodies, and stakeholder meetings; maintaining a structured repository of open-source information on threats, incidents, technologies, and geopolitical developments relevant to the Office's activities; and supporting coordination with other Agency teams and with European institutions, Member States, industry, academia, and international partners on security-related matters.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess good analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team. They should be capable of synthesizing complex technical or policy information and communicating it clearly to different audiences. A genuine interest in space security, resilience, geopolitics, and European space affairs is expected. Candidates with a combination of an engineering or technical background and knowledge of security policy, international relations, or geopolitics are particularly encouraged to apply. Additionally, candidates from a policy or international affairs background should demonstrate an interest in developing their understanding of space systems and technical security threats.

Educational Background:
