Job Overview:
The Finance and Programme Associate Consultant position is integral to the UN Women’s Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section, which aims to address and eliminate violence against women through comprehensive strategies. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Programme Management Specialist and collaborate with various teams across different regions. The role involves promoting a client-oriented approach consistent with UN Women’s regulations and guidelines, ensuring effective financial management and reporting for the ACT to end violence against women programme. The consultant will be responsible for implementing financial strategies, monitoring budgets, and providing administrative support for programme management, all while ensuring compliance with UN Women’s financial regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will implement financial strategies for the HQ EVAW Programme, ensuring compliance with UN Women’s rules and regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying financial transactions, monitoring financial exceptions, drafting financial reports, and following up on audit recommendations. The consultant will also assist in the planning of financial resources, provide advice on financial issues, and monitor the proper functioning of financial management systems. Additional duties include managing petty cash, preparing budget revisions, and providing logistical support for meetings and events. The consultant will also be responsible for training regional programme assistants and ensuring the timely execution of financial processes.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, with specialized certification in accounting and finance being an asset. A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred. Successful completion of the UN Women Accounting and Finance Test is also an asset. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of financial rules and regulations, accounting principles, and IT tools. They should be able to administer financial processes and transactions effectively, and have experience in business process re-engineering and the implementation of new systems.
Educational Background:
The position requires at least a secondary education, with specialized national or international certification in accounting and finance considered an asset. A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred, and successful completion of the UN Women Accounting and Finance Test is advantageous.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, including experience with computers and office software packages. Familiarity with web-based management systems and modern ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is required. Experience with EU-funded projects and supporting programmes focused on ending violence against women or gender equality is desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered desirable.
