Job Overview:
The Office Driver position is crucial for the smooth operation of the FAO Subregional Office for the Pacific Islands. The incumbent will be responsible for driving country office staff and official visitors on official trips, ensuring adherence to road safety rules and organizational guidelines. This role requires regular interaction with national and international visitors, including high-ranking officials, making the driver often the first point of contact for external parties. The Office Driver will also assist with administrative tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency of the office operations. This position demands a high level of professionalism and reliability, as the driver will be entrusted with the safety and comfort of staff and visitors alike.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office Driver will perform a variety of tasks including: driving country office staff and official visitors on official trips while observing road safety rules and FAO guidelines; meeting staff and official visitors at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities; logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and vehicle-related expenditures; ensuring the day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including performing minor repairs and arranging for necessary repairs; handling local and organizational formalities in case of accidents; collecting and delivering mail, documents, and other communications; supporting administrative tasks within Procurement, Finance, and HR; assisting with clerical duties such as answering phones and filing documents; carrying out basic checks and maintenance of air conditioning and generators; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma and have at least three years of relevant experience as a driver. A working knowledge of English and Samoan is essential, and candidates must be nationals of Samoa. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a flawless and safe driving record and possess a valid driver’s license. Familiarity with corporate environmental responsibility and experience working in international organizations will be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma. Candidates must have obtained their qualifications from an institution accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience as a driver, particularly in an international organization setting. Experience driving officials and familiarity with the local context in Apia will be advantageous.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English and Samoan is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered beneficial but is not required.
