Job Overview: The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student for a paid internship opportunity within its 2027 Winter Internship Program. This program is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management while acquiring professional experience through on-the-job learning. The intern will be engaged in various functions, including supporting strategic country positioning and stakeholder engagement, conducting strategic research and analysis, and assisting in portfolio analysis and insight generation. The role emphasizes the importance of knowledge management and coordination, ensuring that strategic materials and knowledge products are maintained with consistency and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the preparation of strategic documents, presentations, and briefing materials that effectively communicate IDB Lab's value proposition; analyzing IDB Lab's activities and country priorities to inform strategic planning; conducting portfolio and pipeline data analysis to identify trends and opportunities; maintaining country profiles and strategic materials to ensure quality across deliverables; and supporting knowledge management efforts to enhance coordination within the organization. The intern will also be expected to collaborate with team members and contribute to various projects as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be active undergraduate students enrolled in a relevant program such as Business, International Relations, Economics, or Communication at an accredited university. They should possess fluency in English and have a working knowledge of at least one other Bank language, such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese. Key skills include a commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, client focus, effective communication, and innovative problem-solving. Soft skills such as being results-driven, team-oriented, and possessing strong time management abilities are essential. Technical skills in research, analysis, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are also required.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be an active undergraduate student, having completed at least the second year of their program by the time of application. The graduation date must be after the internship period, ensuring that the candidate is still enrolled in their academic program during the internship.
Experience: This internship is targeted at first-time participants in an internship program held by the IDB or IDB Invest. Candidates should not have prior experience as a staff member, contractor, or service provider for the Bank or Corporation. The position is designed for individuals who are looking to gain their first professional experience in a development organization.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and candidates should also have a native or working knowledge of one additional language from the Bank's official languages, which include Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
