Job Overview:
The Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the IOM Coordination Office for the North Pacific, which oversees regional operations and strategic initiatives across the North Pacific Islands. This position is particularly focused on disaster resilience, infrastructure development, and humanitarian assistance. The officer will be involved in a multi-year disaster readiness project named Compact of Free Association READY (COFA READY), which covers the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau, and Republic of Marshall Islands. The primary responsibilities include supporting information management, data collection, data analysis, and visualization activities for public infrastructure and private housing reconstruction projects in Chuuk. The officer will ensure effective program reporting and information management for reconstruction and relief efforts, working under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and Head of Programme.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Management Officer will maintain data management tools, including databases and applications, to support program objectives across reconstruction, readiness, and relief components. Responsibilities include collecting, consolidating, and maintaining data from the field for all emergency response, preparedness, recovery, reconstruction, and readiness programs. The officer will compile, store, analyze, and distribute program information to relevant stakeholders, ensuring efficient information flows and reporting mechanisms. Training program staff in data input and utilization of management tools is essential to ensure quality data and efficient record-keeping. The officer will carry out registration activities for demographic data of affected populations and update maps and matrices showing program coverage. Additionally, the officer will generate project reports, process information requests from stakeholders, and provide technical support for communications plans. The role also involves developing publishing materials, data visualizations, and conducting research on information systems and new technologies for disaster management.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Information Management, Geographic Information Systems, Archival, Information Science, Information Systems, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in information management, monitoring and evaluation, and construction management, particularly in developing countries. Experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation, as well as producing high-quality reports, is essential. Familiarity with IOM and/or USG-funded projects is preferred, and experience in the Pacific region is an advantage.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Information Management, Geographic Information Systems, Archival, Information Science, Information Systems, or Social Science. Candidates with a University degree in these fields must have additional years of relevant professional experience to qualify. The educational qualifications must be from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience if they hold a Master’s degree, or four years if they have a University degree. Experience should encompass information management, monitoring and evaluation, and construction management, particularly in developing countries. Candidates should also have a proven track record in data collection, analysis, and presentation, as well as experience in producing high-quality reports. Familiarity with IOM and/or USG-funded projects is preferred, and experience in the Pacific region is considered an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is advantageous. Proficiency in the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

This vacancy is exclusively open to current and former IOM staff members who were separated in the last 12 months due to the structural adjustment process. Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation.
