Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student for a paid internship opportunity within the Legal Department's Compliance Unit. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, designed to provide university students with insights into development work and corporate management at IDB Invest. Interns will gain professional experience through on-the-job learning, assisting the Compliance unit in various legal and compliance matters. The role involves supporting legal officers in identifying and managing nonfinancial risks, developing compliance policies, conducting research, and creating training materials. This position offers a unique chance to engage with international compliance issues and contribute to the organization's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist the Compliance unit in advising management and business teams on legal and compliance matters. Responsibilities include identifying and managing nonfinancial risks, developing solutions to mitigate these risks, and assisting in the creation and implementation of compliance policies and procedures. Interns will conduct research on legal topics, draft reports, and develop training materials. Coordination with other departments within the IDB Group is also a key responsibility, ensuring a collaborative approach to compliance and risk management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be active undergraduate students enrolled in a Law program at an accredited university, with a graduation date after the internship period. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of an additional Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is advantageous. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, be result-driven, collaborative, innovative, and self-motivated, with excellent time management abilities. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, is also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) program in Law. Applicants must have completed at least their second year of studies by the time of application and must be able to provide documentation confirming their student status, such as academic transcripts and a university letter.

Experience:
This internship is designed for first-time participants in an internship program at the IDB Group. Candidates should not have prior experience as staff members, contractors, or service providers for the IDB or IDB Invest. The focus is on providing an opportunity for students to gain their first professional experience in a supportive environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of one of the other Bank languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
