Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student for the position of Undergraduate Administrative intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which is a competitive paid opportunity designed for university students from member countries. The intern will gain valuable insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank, while acquiring professional-level work experience through on-the-job learning. The role involves updating internal guidance materials, streamlining internal trackers, organizing shared files, and supporting the Front Office team with various administrative tasks. The intern will also assist in translating technical information into accessible content for Bank personnel, thereby enhancing internal communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Updating internal guidance materials related to administrative procedures such as travel authorizations, expense statements, and timesheet reporting, transforming them into clear, visual step-by-step guides for Bank personnel.
  • Streamlining and optimizing internal trackers, particularly the Excel-based tracker used for monitoring contract and mission information.
  • Organizing and standardizing the division's internal shared files and folders to ensure completeness, consistency, and ease of navigation.
  • Supporting the Front Office team with day-to-day administrative tasks, which may include scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, preparing documents, and maintaining the mailbox.
  • Assisting with internal communications from the Front Office team, helping to translate complex technical or procedural information into content that is accessible and understandable for Bank personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They must be a national of an IDB member country and actively enrolled in an undergraduate program as of the internship's starting date. The graduation date should be after the internship period. Additionally, candidates must not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest, and they should be first-time participants in an IDB internship program. It is also important that candidates have not previously been staff members, contractors, or provided services to the Bank or Corporation under any other contractual modality.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be an active undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Communications, International Relations, Economics, or a related field from an accredited university. It is essential that the student has completed their second year of studies by the time of application, and their graduation date must be after the internship period to ensure eligibility.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and adapt. The internship is designed for students who are in the early stages of their professional careers, thus emphasizing the importance of being an active student rather than requiring extensive work experience.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and having a working knowledge of one additional Bank language such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese is considered a plus. This linguistic capability will enhance the intern's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse environment of the IDB Group.
