SI's mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been active since 2001, addressing humanitarian needs and participating in the fight against epidemics. The mission is involved in food security and livelihoods, water, hygiene, and sanitation, and multi-sector cash assistance. SI's programs include emergency response, rapid response mechanisms, and longer-term recovery and development activities in stabilized areas. The DRC mission employs an average of 210 staff, including 21 expatriates, and is expanding its operations in the Sud Kivu region with a main base in Uvira and a sub-base in Baraka.

Job Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to play a central role in implementing the annual plans for 2026-2027 and developing new projects. The coordinator will consolidate emergency response capacities and develop national partnerships with the support of the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team. This role also involves ensuring the proper functioning of support services such as logistics, human resources, and finance, while participating in compliance deployment. The coordinator will represent SI in humanitarian coordination instances and with authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders, adhering to humanitarian standards. Maintaining a high level of security, humanitarian access, and context analysis is crucial. The position requires strengthening inter-departmental coordination between the base and sub-bases to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with SI's commitments and donor requirements. The role also involves managing security and access challenges in a volatile area marked by armed groups and de facto authorities, supporting strategic and operational development, launching new projects, and recruiting teams. The coordinator must implement activities despite limited human, material, and financial resources while maintaining SI's status as a major player in emergency response and enhancing links with early recovery efforts. The first two to three months will focus on launching new projects, recruiting teams, mobilizing necessary resources, and consolidating partnerships while ensuring effective project management and budget tracking.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include:

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:

• A Master's degree in international relations, project management, logistics, administration, finance, human resources, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
• At least 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar position.
• Strong analytical and projection skills.
• Good knowledge of security management and humanitarian access negotiation.
• Excellent understanding of volatile security contexts.
• Experience in managing programs/projects, ideally in food security and livelihoods (SAME) and/or water, hygiene, and sanitation (EHA), with a good grasp of support aspects (logistics, administration, finance, HR).
• Strong management skills and the ability to lead and mentor teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and networking skills. 1
• Willingness to travel to field locations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, project management, logistics, administration, finance, or human resources. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered, provided they align with the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3 to 4 years in a similar role. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects and programs in challenging environments, particularly in areas related to food security, livelihoods, and water, hygiene, and sanitation.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, both oral and written. A good knowledge of English is also required, as it will facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a salaried role with a salary starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2600 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, and a monthly per diem of USD 80

• SI also covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance that covers all medical expenses, including surgical, dental, and ophthalmological care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and essential malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions include accommodation in an office/guesthouse in Uvira with a private room and bathroom, limited restaurant and bar options, and evolving security rules, including a curfew at 7 PM. General living conditions are described as very spartan.
