Job Overview: The Director de Proyecto will be responsible for leading all aspects of project development, implementation, and consolidation in Guatemala. This role requires a strong focus on managing relationships with key stakeholders, including government ministries, civil society partners, and community networks. The Director will oversee the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with CRS quality standards, donor guidelines, and best practices in the sector. The position demands a strategic approach to integrating child protection processes and activities with the global project team, fostering a safe environment for idea sharing and problem-solving. The Director will also be responsible for mentoring staff, managing team dynamics, and ensuring compliance with safety and protection policies. This role is crucial for enhancing program quality and impact, promoting efficient resource use, and leading programmatic learning and knowledge management initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Social Welfare, foreign governments, and civil society partners.
Lead the development, implementation, and consolidation of the project, ensuring adherence to CRS quality standards and donor guidelines.
Supervise the identification and strengthening of relevant partnerships for the project.
Oversee the development of staffing plans and senior personnel recruitment processes.
Manage program and operations talent effectively, ensuring coordination among program and operations leaders.
Provide mentorship and support to senior program staff.
Monitor national and regional issues that may impact staff and programming, managing and mitigating risks accordingly.
Ensure compliance with CRS safety and protection policies.
Supervise technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities for staff and partner organizations. 1
Lead programmatic learning and share insights on how the project contributes to thought leadership in the sector. 1
Promote responsible resource management and ensure compliance with donor guidelines. 1
Oversee the development of communication strategies and materials in line with donor and CRS branding requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as health, international development, or international relations.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant management experience and technical expertise in child care and protection.
At least 5 years of experience managing donor funds, including multinational grants.
Strong knowledge and experience in budget management.
Minimum of 2 years of experience managing staff and fostering a learning environment.
Experience providing support to senior program staff.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's or Doctorate in social work, education, health, or a related field. Advanced degrees are highly regarded and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in management and technical roles, particularly in child care and protection. Experience in managing donor funds and leading diverse teams is essential, with a proven track record of successful program management.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Spanish is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position may require travel up to 25% to remote locations with limited resources.
