Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active undergraduate student to join as an intern under the Consultant modality for the 2027 Winter Internship Program. This competitive paid opportunity is designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. Interns will acquire professional-level work experience through on-the-job learning, focusing on AI and data-related tasks. The role involves supporting the collection, cleaning, organization, and preparation of data for various AI, machine learning, and analytics use cases. Interns will assist in developing, testing, and documenting AI prototypes and automation solutions, contributing to the evaluation of AI models and tools, and researching emerging AI methods to inform team discussions. Clear communication of findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is also a key expectation of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
  • Supporting the collection, cleaning, organization, and preparation of data for AI, machine learning, and analytics use cases.
  • Assisting in the development, testing, and documentation of AI prototypes, proofs of concept, and automation solutions under the guidance of technical team members.
  • Contributing to the evaluation of AI models and tools by analyzing outputs, identifying limitations, and summarizing opportunities for improvement.
  • Researching emerging AI methods, tools, and responsible AI practices to inform team discussions and support their practical application within business processes.
  • Preparing clear technical documentation, summaries, and presentations to communicate AI findings, progress, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Be a national of an IDB member country.
  • Be an active student enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) program as of the starting date of the internship program, with a graduation date after the internship period.
  • Not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity.
  • Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or IDB Invest.
  • Not have been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (CW), contractor for the Bank or Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be an active undergraduate student majoring in Artificial Intelligence from an accredited university. It is essential that the graduation date is set for after the internship period, ensuring that the candidate is still enrolled and pursuing their degree during the internship.

Experience:
This internship is designed for undergraduate students, so prior professional experience is not required. However, candidates should possess basic programming skills in Python and familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI. Understanding of machine learning and generative AI concepts is also beneficial, along with the ability to work with both structured and unstructured data.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is considered a plus. This bilingual capability will enhance communication within the diverse environment of the IDB Group.

  • The contract type is Intern Consultant, lasting for two months. Candidates must submit their resume, academic transcripts (official or unofficial), and a university letter certifying their student status when applying.
