Job Overview:
The Head of Green Finance & Investment will play a pivotal role in advancing Rwanda's climate and green growth agenda. This position is strategically important as it involves translating priority initiatives into investment-ready opportunities and mobilizing capital for high-impact solutions. The role provides a unique opportunity to shape Rwanda's emerging climate finance landscape by connecting government priorities with development finance, private capital, and innovative financing approaches. The successful candidate will enhance WRI's capacity to engage with various stakeholders, including government institutions, development finance institutions, commercial investors, philanthropic organizations, and multilateral funds, to develop financing solutions that align with Rwanda's climate and sustainable development priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Head of Green Finance & Investment include supporting the finance and investment components of Rwanda's Country Platform, providing strategic advice to the government on climate finance, facilitating collaboration among stakeholders to identify and advance investment opportunities, and developing a pipeline of bankable projects. The role also involves providing technical expertise on project finance, conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and supporting resource mobilization efforts. Additionally, the candidate will lead the identification and engagement of potential outcome buyers and financing partners, develop partnership strategies, and contribute to the structuring of outcome purchase agreements. The position requires collaboration with various WRI teams to strengthen enabling conditions for restoration finance and identify opportunities to scale successful financing models across Rwanda.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completed master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Investment Management, Development Finance, Public Policy, or a related field. They should have at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in project finance, investment structuring, transaction advisory, sustainable finance, or capital mobilization. The ideal candidate will have experience in deal structuring, financial advisory, and managing relationships with government counterparts and financial institutions. A track record in advanced financial modeling, investment analysis, and preparing investment memos is essential, along with familiarity with nature-based solutions and climate finance.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Investment Management, Development Finance, or Public Policy is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of finance and investment in the context of climate and sustainable development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should have substantial experience in project finance, investment structuring, and transaction advisory, particularly in the context of sustainable finance and capital mobilization. Experience in building and managing relationships with various stakeholders, including government institutions and financial organizations, is also necessary. The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to engage with public and private capital providers effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French and Kinyarwanda is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance engagement in Rwanda's context.

This position is based in WRI's Rwanda office in Kigali and is offered as a 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal.
