Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
ONU Mujeres, established as a leading UN entity focused on gender equality, aims to drive changes in laws, institutions, social behaviors, and services to close the gender gap and create an equal world for all women and girls. The organization collaborates with governments, women's movements, and the private sector, coordinating with the UN system to translate progress into lasting change. ONU Mujeres focuses on four key areas: leadership, economic empowerment, eradication of violence, and women, peace, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, as well as humanitarian action. The organization places the rights of women and girls at the center of global progress, emphasizing that gender equality is not just what they do, but who they are.
Job Overview:
The Global Center of Excellence on Gender Statistics (CEEG) of ONU Mujeres, in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), is dedicated to strengthening institutional capacities and innovation for the production, analysis, and use of gender statistics at national, regional, and global levels. This includes the global Women Count initiative and promotes the development and use of gender-sensitive statistics in emerging areas such as care, gender-based violence, political violence, femicide, technology-facilitated violence, and climate change, incorporating geospatial data and citizen-generated data. To enhance the visibility, accessibility, and strategic use of this knowledge, the CEEG requires technical support to strengthen its communication processes and data visualization, facilitating the translation of statistical evidence into accessible and strategic language for differentiated dissemination by audience types. This assignment offers volunteers the opportunity to engage in a strategic initiative to enhance their experience in data-driven institutional communication and gain practical knowledge about ONU Mujeres' work in gender statistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Two volunteers will provide technical support to the CEEG of ONU Mujeres Mexico by creating analytical and communication inputs in the form of drafts aimed at strengthening the dissemination and use of gender statistics produced by the Center. Volunteers will assist in identifying preliminary results and key messages, drafting graphic materials for digital dissemination, and preparing guiding proposals for dissemination planning, differentiated by audience type (public sector, private sector, academia, and general public). Under the supervision of the CEEG Coordinator and in coordination with the technical and communication teams of ONU Mujeres Mexico, the inputs generated by the volunteers will serve as a working basis for designing, adjusting, and strengthening the Center's institutional communication strategy according to ONU Mujeres' editorial guidelines and standards. The assignment is structured into two complementary profiles to avoid overlaps and strengthen the articulation between content analysis and its visual translation. OV 1 – Visual support and graphic systematization: • Develop 5 drafts of graphic materials (the type of material will be identified jointly based on CEEG publications: cards, infographics, brief presentations, reels, or other formats). • Translate technical writing into accessible and impactful writing, adapted to different audience types. • Support in guiding proposals for disseminating graphic materials linked to emblematic CEEG events, in coordination with the communications team. OV 2 – Analytical and narrative support: • Create 1 preliminary mapping of potential audiences (academia, private sector, governments, NGOs) based on CEEG knowledge products. • Develop 1 communication document that guides statistical content by audience types, key messages, product types, dissemination channels, and initial follow-up elements. • Draft 3 impact stories (academia, public sector, and private sector) based on CEEG knowledge products. Common tasks for both volunteers include: • Participation in coordination and technical feedback meetings with ONU Mujeres teams. • Cross-review of the inputs produced. • For the development of activities, it is suggested to use digital design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, Illustrator, or Photoshop. This assignment will allow volunteers to strengthen their technical, analytical, and professional skills in the production, systematization, and communication of gender statistics; apply their knowledge in data analysis and dissemination processes aimed at different audiences; and gain practical experience in using ONU Mujeres' methodological and communication standards, contributing to the strategic use of evidence for gender equality.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a background in statistics, social sciences, or related fields. Familiarity with gender issues and statistics is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in digital design tools is highly desirable, as well as experience in creating communication materials for diverse audiences.
Educational Background:
A degree in statistics, social sciences, communications, or a related field is required. Advanced studies or certifications in gender studies or data visualization would be an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in data analysis, communication, or related fields. Experience working with gender statistics or in a UN context is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of additional languages would be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is not specified. The role is designed for individuals seeking to gain experience in the field of gender statistics and communication. The position is full-time, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally, depending on the applicant's qualifications.
