Job Overview: The Executive Development Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the effective delivery of UNU-WIDER's programs while enhancing its external engagement and partnerships. This position involves providing program coordination, analytical support, and liaison services to the Director’s Office. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of briefing notes, presentations, and background materials for senior management meetings and external engagements. Additionally, the role requires monitoring action points from meetings, coordinating high-level events, and maintaining effective communication between the Director's Office and internal units. The Executive Development Coordinator will also support institutional initiatives, track project activities, and assist in resource mobilization efforts, making this position integral to the operational success of UNU-WIDER.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and operational support to the Director’s Office by preparing briefing notes, presentations, and correspondence for senior management engagements; monitoring action points from meetings; and coordinating high-level meetings and events.
Support program and coordination for assigned institutional initiatives, including tracking project activities, maintaining documentation, and organizing workshops and seminars.
Facilitate partnerships and stakeholder engagement by coordinating with external stakeholders, preparing briefing materials, and supporting the organization of partnership meetings.
Contribute to resource mobilization efforts by monitoring funding opportunities, assisting in the development of project proposals, and maintaining records on donor engagement.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring timely and high-quality support for projects and institutional initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess progressively responsible experience in executive coordination, program/project support, or administrative coordination. Demonstrated ability to support project planning and implementation is essential, along with experience in international organizations or research institutions. Strong analytical, coordination, and organizational skills are required, as well as proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with project management systems.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international development, economics, public policy, international relations, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience will also be considered for this position.
Experience: The position requires progressively responsible experience in executive coordination, program/project support, or related fields. Experience in international organizations or development contexts is highly advantageous, as is the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN official working language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Additional Notes: The successful candidate will be employed under a Personnel Service Agreement (PSA) contract with UNU, which offers an attractive compensation package including an annual net salary of EUR 59,466.77, along with benefits such as 30 days of annual leave and a health insurance scheme. The initial contract duration is one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs. The mandatory retirement age for PSA holders is 65 years.
