Job Overview:
The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at IOM is designed to attract talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM's programmes and activities. Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The programme aims to provide interns with practical experience in the field of migration, allowing them to assist with daily operational activities at the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC). Interns will work under the overall direction of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Team Leader of the KVAC. The role involves assisting with various tasks related to visa applications, document logistics, and communication with beneficiaries, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the KVAC operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: receiving and sorting visa applications delivered by post, managing passport and document logistics, and ordering visa application supporting documents according to relevant checklists. They will assist the KVAC team with document completeness checks for specific visa types, such as university degree (D-2), Korean language trainee (D-4), and exchange student (D-2-6) visa applications. Interns will also communicate with visa applicants regarding missing documents or passport collection, attend project meetings and training sessions with the project coordinator and other KVAC teams located in Paris, London, The Hague, and Ulaanbaatar, and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Additionally, interns may undertake any other tasks assigned by their supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be students or graduates, preferably from a college of Humanities and Social Sciences or a related field. They should have a specific interest in migration issues and relevant academic background. The internship is open to individuals who are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated within the last 12 months. Candidates must also be between 20 and 36 years of age and possess a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations or be sponsored by governmental/non-governmental institutions or academia.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student or recent graduate, ideally in fields related to Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, which aligns with IOM's focus on migration and humanitarian issues.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have less than two years of relevant working experience. This is particularly aimed at students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of migration and humanitarian work. The internship is designed to provide exposure to the operational aspects of IOM's work, particularly in relation to visa processing and support for migrants.

Languages:
For this internship, proficiency in English is mandatory. This is essential for effective communication within the KVAC team and with visa applicants. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly languages relevant to the populations served by IOM.

Additional Notes:
Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, depending on their experience and location. However, those who benefit from an internship allowance or scholarship that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan for the duration of the internship, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. Any offer made to candidates is subject to funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including discrimination and harassment.
