Job Overview: The Information and Communication Technology Associate position is crucial for the effective functioning of the IOM's country office in Georgetown, Guyana. This role involves providing and coordinating ICT solutions and services, ensuring that the office's IT networks and systems operate efficiently and effectively. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information and Communication Technology Associate include supervising ICT assistants, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, installing and configuring network connectivity, and administering systems and applications. The associate will undertake daily monitoring and maintenance of systems and networks, analyze performance, and resolve issues to ensure continuous operations. They will also manage updates of operating systems and software patches, respond to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security incidents, and coordinate with the Regional Office on cybersecurity efforts. Additionally, the associate will produce documentation such as network diagrams and user manuals, assist in translating business challenges into ICT solutions, and deliver training activities to enhance the skills of ICT assistants and end users.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in computer science or a relevant field, or a high school diploma with additional relevant education. Certification in areas such as CCNA, ITIL V4, Prince2, or Microsoft certifications (MS 900, MS AZ-104, 303, 304, 305) is considered an advantage. The position requires a strong understanding of ICT principles and practices, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in computer science or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, combined with relevant professional experience, may also be considered. Additional certifications in networking and IT service management are beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The position requires five years of professional experience in a networking environment (LAN/WAN) and Tier-2 level network/desktop support for candidates with a university degree. For those with a diploma or high school degree, seven years of relevant experience is required. Candidates should also have at least one year of professional experience in cloud computing, and experience working with international agencies such as UN Agencies, International Organizations, or International NGOs is advantageous.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for all applicants, along with a working knowledge of at least one additional UN language, which may include Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. Fluency in Spanish is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
