Job Overview:
The position of Conductor GS2 at WFP involves providing efficient and safe transportation services for authorized personnel and goods. The role is crucial in ensuring that WFP's operations run smoothly, particularly in regions affected by crises. The Conductor will be responsible for managing various types of vehicles, including light vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles, and may also be tasked with operating boats. This position requires adherence to safety regulations and protocols, ensuring that all transportation activities are conducted in a secure manner. The Conductor will also assist with basic administrative tasks in the office or warehouse, contributing to the overall efficiency of WFP's operations. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide transportation services for authorized personnel, including translating simple conversations between the local language and the official language, and delivering or picking up various items/products according to the authorized itinerary while adhering to United Nations safety regulations.
• Greet official staff and visitors at the airport or other arrival points, assisting with visa processing and customs formalities to ensure a smooth and secure entry to the authorized destination.
• Maintain accurate vehicle records and report daily to the supervisor on the vehicle's mechanical condition to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption.
• Keep the assigned vehicle and all related equipment clean and in good condition, performing timely maintenance tasks and ensuring the vehicle is fully equipped with travel authorizations and necessary supplies, reporting any mechanical issues to the supervisor.
• Follow established regulations for deliveries on the ground and in case of accidents, promptly reporting any issues to the supervisor to facilitate informed decision-making.
• In addition to driving duties, perform basic office tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining order in warehouses as needed, including delivering or picking up items, mail services, and paying office bills to provide administrative support to clients.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum standard academic qualifications include completion of secondary education. Official driver training and a valid license or certificate to operate the assigned vehicle according to local regulations are required. Candidates should have at least two years of work experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or United Nations system, with a proven safety record in driving. Experience with various vehicle brands and models, including vans, trucks, and other motor vehicles, is essential. Defensive driving experience is highly valued. Knowledge of driving regulations, protocol, and courtesy as a driver, as well as familiarity with local roads and waterways, is necessary. Candidates should also possess knowledge of vehicle load capacity and safety equipment regulations, and be able to read and interpret safety documents and operating manuals. Basic emergency assistance skills and knowledge of first aid methods are required, along with the ability to use communication devices such as radios and emails. A customer-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact are essential qualities for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education. Additionally, they should have received formal training as a driver and possess a valid driver's license or certificate for the vehicle they will operate, in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional driving experience, ideally within an international organization, embassy, or the United Nations system. Candidates should demonstrate a history of safe driving practices and experience operating various types of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and other motor vehicles. Defensive driving experience is considered an asset.

Languages:
Proficiency (level C) in the official language of the United Nations used at the duty station and in the local language spoken at the duty station, if different, is mandatory for this position.
