Job Overview:
The Driver SC2 position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and goods within the operational framework of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Driver SC2 include:

• Providing transportation for authorized personnel and delivering various items and commodities according to authorized routing and safety regulations.
• Meeting official personnel and visitors at airports or other entry points, assisting with visa and customs formalities.
• Maintaining accurate vehicle log books and reporting on mechanical status to ensure efficient vehicle use and cost-effectiveness.
• Keeping the assigned vehicle clean and in good condition, ensuring timely maintenance and reporting any mechanical issues.
• Following established rules for field deliveries and reporting any incidents or accidents to the supervisor.
• Performing basic office-related tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores when required, including the delivery and collection of items and payment of office bills.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and certification to operate assigned vehicles in accordance with local regulations. A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization, is required. Candidates should demonstrate a safe driving record and experience in driving various types of vehicles, including vans and trucks. Knowledge of driving rules, local roads, and safety standards is essential, along with the ability to assist in emergencies and perform minor vehicle repairs. A client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, and courtesy are also important qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. Formal driver training is essential, along with a valid driver’s license that complies with local regulations. Candidates should have a solid understanding of driving protocols and safety standards.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant work experience as a driver, ideally within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. Experience in defensive driving is desirable, as is familiarity with various vehicle makes and models. Candidates should have a demonstrated safe driving record and the ability to navigate local roads and conditions effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in the UN language used at the duty station and proficiency in the local language (Sinhala or Tamil) are mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
