Job Overview:
The Senior Project Development and Reporting Associate will independently lead and coordinate the implementation of migration-related projects. This role involves monitoring the implementation of activities to ensure they align with established plans, analyzing any difficulties encountered, and making recommendations for adjustments to reflect the changing environment in the field. The associate will regularly research, compile, analyze, and present information on national, regional, and international developments, reports, and legislation, highlighting noteworthy issues for consideration by relevant parties. The position requires effective coordination of financial, administrative, and technical aspects of projects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements. The associate will also be responsible for planning and conducting capacity-building workshops for relevant stakeholders, maintaining effective liaison with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders, and preparing correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and reports in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Project Development and Reporting Associate include:
  • Leading and coordinating the implementation of migration-related projects.
  • Monitoring project activities to ensure compliance with established plans and making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
  • Conducting regular research and analysis of relevant developments and documentation.
  • Monitoring budget expenditures and maintaining records of approved project budgets.
  • Coordinating financial, administrative, and technical aspects of projects in accordance with IOM policies.
  • Planning and conducting capacity-building workshops for internal and external parties.
  • Participating in meetings and conferences, maintaining effective liaison with stakeholders.
  • Preparing correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and reports.
  • Documenting good practices and contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and project proposals. 1
  • Supervising and providing guidance to reporting staff. 1
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a High School diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Experience in drafting result-based concept notes and project proposals, particularly in the international development or humanitarian sector, is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited academic institution. Candidates with a High School diploma must have additional years of relevant professional experience to qualify for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or seven years if they have a High School diploma. Experience should include liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs, as well as working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous. Candidates should also have experience in drafting project proposals and reports, as well as familiarity with project cycle processes and reporting requirements.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position, both oral and written. All IOM staff members must be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
