Job Overview:
The Program Manager position at IFC in Papua New Guinea is pivotal for operationalizing the IFC2030 strategy at the country level. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and implementing country strategies and annual business plans in close collaboration with World Bank Group counterparts. This includes overseeing the program and portfolio in Port Moresby, PNG, and Australia, while also supporting staff in these regions. The Program Manager will drive significant growth in investment and advisory activities, pursue new opportunities, and strengthen the impact of IFC's initiatives. The role requires a collaborative approach, as the Program Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team and engage with various stakeholders, including corporate clients, government officials, and counterparts at other multilateral institutions. The position is essential for fostering private sector development, driving sustainable economic growth, and promoting inclusive opportunities across the Pacific region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Developing and implementing multi-year country strategies and annual business plans for integrated investment and advisory operations, focusing on upstream engagements, sector priorities, and business targets.
  • Overseeing IFC investment and advisory activities in Papua New Guinea and Australia.
  • Leading coordination with World Bank Group institutions and designing Joint Business Plans with regional industry colleagues and IBRD/IDA and MIGA counterparts.
  • Driving contributions to Systematic Country Diagnostics, Country Climate and Development Reports, and Country Partnership Frameworks.
  • Building and managing senior-level relationships with key clients in both the government and private sectors to position IFC as the partner of choice for impactful projects.
  • Identifying and implementing measures to enhance country results, including efficiency, productivity, profitability, and overall impact.
  • Leading, managing, and mentoring a diverse team of regional and industry staff, ensuring strong performance and motivation.
  • Identifying opportunities for market development through upstream engagements and innovation.
  • Executing client engagement strategies for existing and prospective clients. 1
  • Providing guidance on complex investment structuring and portfolio management matters. 1
  • Strengthening the IFC and WBG brands and enhancing the country communications strategy. 1
  • Representing IFC in target markets and participating in high-profile events to enhance visibility. 1
  • Managing the IFC CMU teams in PNG to ensure high performance and commitment to strategic goals. 1
  • Providing administrative and HR management oversight to staff in the country offices.

Required Qualifications:
