The role requires a proactive approach to managing security violations and breaches, conducting site security surveys, and ensuring compliance with NATO Security Policies. The Command Security Officer will also be responsible for the governance of subordinate entities, making this position essential for maintaining the integrity and security of NATO operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide security advice and guidance to the HQ LANDCOM Security Authority and the Principal Security Advisor.
Coordinate all security matters within HQ LANDCOM in close collaboration with the HQSO and other national/NATO agencies, commands, and organizations during peacetime and operations.
Formulate HQ LANDCOM Security Policies and plans in accordance with ACO Security Directives.
Implement ACO requirements on Information and Intelligence Sharing with Non-NATO Entities within HQ LANDCOM.
Execute the ACO Security awareness program, including training and education initiatives within HQ LANDCOM.
Manage security violations and breaches within HQ LANDCOM.
Maintain close liaison with SHAPE J2X.
Conduct Site Security Surveys to support Site Security Compliance with NATO Security Policy.
Conduct Security Assurance and Governance of HQ LANDCOM subordinate entities for which Security oversight responsibility exists. This position reports to the Branch Head (G2X).
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications for this position include a University Degree with at least 4 years of relevant post-related experience, or a Higher Secondary education complemented by advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or accreditation, along with 5 years of post-related experience and 2 years of function-related experience. Candidates must have experience in providing advice and guidance to security authorities and coordinating security matters for organizations. Additionally, experience in formulating security policies and plans in accordance with directives and guidelines is required. Candidates should also have experience in implementing security requirements related to information and intelligence, as well as security awareness programs, including training and education. Furthermore, experience in managing security violations and breaches within an organization is essential, along with conducting site security surveys to ensure compliance with security policies and governance of subordinate entities.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a University Degree or equivalent qualification. Alternatively, a Higher Secondary education with completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or accreditation is acceptable, provided the candidate has the requisite years of experience as outlined in the qualifications section. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of security policies and procedures within NATO's operational framework.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant post-related experience for candidates with a University Degree, or 5 years of post-related experience for those with a Higher Secondary education and advanced vocational training. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of function-related experience. Desirable qualifications include a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Security Officer at the Division Level or higher within NATO or similar civilian organizations, which would provide valuable insights into the operational and strategic aspects of security management.
