Job Overview: The Human Resources Support position is situated within the FAO Representation in Asmara, Eritrea, and is integral to the organization's mission of enhancing food security and rural development. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative (Administration). This role involves close collaboration with the Regional Human Resources Unit and other relevant HR units to ensure compliance with FAO's rules and regulations. The primary focus of this position is to coordinate and execute administrative tasks related to the hiring of both national and international affiliate workforce, thereby supporting the overall hiring plan and ensuring that the organization attracts qualified talent for its various programs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resources Support will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the overall hiring plan for national and international affiliate workforce; assisting in the preparation and review of Terms of Reference for affiliate workforce to ensure compliance with standards; publishing calls for vacancies and ensuring proper dissemination to attract candidates; organizing the selection process, including coordinating interviews and preparing candidate evaluation reports; processing contracts for the workforce in the Global Resource Management System (GRMS) and ensuring all required documentation is collected and verified; monitoring contract validity and coordinating renewal or termination actions; providing administrative support for payment processing for consultants; promoting a respectful work environment; contributing to knowledge exchange and best practices; supporting the performance evaluation process for consultants; maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information; and performing other related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary school education, preferably with additional training or technical courses in program/project support, administration, or data management. A minimum of four years of related work experience is required, particularly in supporting administrative functions related to Human Resources management. This includes clerical and program experience, with skills in analyzing, processing, and editing information and data, as well as record keeping. Proficiency in English at a working knowledge level (C) is mandatory, along with knowledge of the local language. Candidates must be nationals of Eritrea or residents with a valid work permit and should provide evidence of completion or exemption from National Services.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary school education. It is highly desirable for candidates to have additional training or technical courses that focus on program/project support, administration, or data management, which would enhance their ability to perform the duties associated with this role effectively.
