Job Overview:
The Business Analyst role at NATO DIANA involves leading the analysis and optimization of business processes within the organization. The successful candidate will translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, and solution specifications that support the delivery of digital capabilities. This position requires close collaboration with stakeholders, project teams, and technology partners to ensure the successful delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement of business systems and digital solutions. The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that these systems deliver measurable business value, enhance operational efficiency, and align with the organization's objectives. The role is integral to the functioning of DIANA's cloud-native digital estate, which includes Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and various SaaS tools supporting different operational teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Business Analyst include analyzing and optimizing business processes across DIANA functions, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting the redesign of workflows aligned with organizational objectives. The incumbent will lead the business analysis workstream for DIANA OS, coordinating business analysts, governing requirements, and ensuring alignment with business needs. Responsibilities also include eliciting, documenting, validating, and managing business requirements, translating them into functional specifications and user stories for delivery teams. The Business Analyst will support the delivery of business systems and digital solutions by coordinating requirements management, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and enabling effective collaboration between business and technical teams. Additionally, the role involves supporting change management activities, including training, user guidance, communications, and the adoption of new systems and processes. The incumbent will also support system configuration, data migration, testing activities (including user acceptance testing), and the development of functional and process documentation. Developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and analytics to provide business insights and support organizational decision-making is also part of the role.

Required Qualifications:
The essential qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree from a nationally recognized or certified university in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline, along with at least 2 years of relevant business analysis experience. Alternatively, candidates with 6 years of progressive professional experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered. Proven experience as a Business Analyst supporting enterprise business applications and SaaS platforms is required, including business process analysis, requirements gathering, and solution specification. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to analyze, map, and optimize business processes, develop business cases, functional specifications, and user stories. Experience in supporting the delivery of business systems or ERP projects, including requirements management, stakeholder engagement, planning, and progress tracking, is also essential. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are necessary, as well as experience in change management, user adoption, training, and the implementation of new business systems and processes. Familiarity with system configuration, data migration, testing (including UAT), and Agile delivery methodologies is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of business processes and the technical requirements of the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant business analysis experience, or alternatively, 6 years of progressive professional experience in lieu of a degree. This experience should include supporting enterprise business applications and SaaS platforms, as well as involvement in business process analysis, requirements gathering, and solution specification.

Languages:
The incumbent must have a minimum level of NATO’s official languages, specifically V (Advanced) in one language and I (Beginner) in the other. Most of DIANA’s internal work is conducted in English, making proficiency in English essential for this role.

Additional Notes:
The successful candidate will receive a definite duration contract of three years, which may be extended. If the candidate is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member states, a similar contract will be offered, with the possibility of renewal for an additional three years, subject to national authority agreement. The maximum period of service in the post as a seconded staff member is six years.
