Job Overview:
The Program Officer will be a key member of the Program Management Unit (PMU) for the Malaria Mukt Gadchiroli Abhiyan, a project aimed at eliminating malaria in Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. This role involves managing surveillance data, generating analytics, and developing real-time visualization tools to support evidence-based decision-making. The officer will work closely with the project manager and district team to create interactive dashboards, prepare performance reports, and contribute to operational research. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can clean, analyze, and validate data from various health surveillance platforms, ensuring that the project meets its objectives effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Officer's responsibilities include cleaning, analyzing, and validating data from health surveillance platforms such as IHIP, DVDMS, and LLIN tracking systems. They will develop and maintain dashboards and reports for district and block-level performance indicators, support the design and roll-out of Early Warning Alert and Response Systems (EWARS), and generate data summaries, fact sheets, and scorecards for monthly and quarterly reviews. The officer will also contribute to operational research, train field and facility staff in data entry and quality assurance, and provide inputs for donor reports and technical presentations. This role is crucial for ensuring that the project is data-driven and aligned with national health priorities.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field. A minimum of one year of experience in program analytics or monitoring and evaluation roles is required. Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar software is essential, and experience with health surveillance platforms like IHIP and DVDMS is desirable. Strong analytical and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to present data visually and narratively. Working knowledge of Marathi is preferred but not mandatory.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or Public Health. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of health data and analytics, which are central to the role of Program Officer.
Experience:
The position requires at least one year of experience in program analytics or monitoring and evaluation roles. This experience should ideally involve working with health data and analytics, demonstrating the candidate's ability to manage and interpret complex datasets effectively. Familiarity with health surveillance platforms will be an advantage.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and working knowledge of Marathi is desirable. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance collaboration with local teams and stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The initial three months of the position will require the candidate to work on-site in Gadchiroli. After this period, there is an option to work remotely, with travel to Gadchiroli as needed based on program team requirements. The position is full-time, and the last date to apply is 25th September 2026.
