Job Overview:
The Chai Program Manager will lead the malaria team’s efforts across multiple grants and workstreams, focusing on the implementation of projects aimed at malaria elimination in India. The role requires excellent strategic programming, people management, problem-solving, and analytical skills. The Manager will oversee project implementation, build a strong team, and manage grants to achieve strategic objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of strategies that will have a significant impact on malaria elimination efforts in India. The Manager will work closely with senior leadership and NCVBDC staff, ensuring that innovative solutions are integrated into the malaria control programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBBS with a postgraduate degree (MD, MPH, MBA, or similar) and have over 15 years of experience in health program support at the state and national levels. In-depth knowledge of malaria and professional experience in program design and management in public health are essential. Candidates should have a strong network within the public health ecosystem in India and a proven track record of working in multi-stakeholder environments. An entrepreneurial mindset, strategic thinking, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also required.
Educational Background:
The position requires an MBBS degree along with a postgraduate qualification such as MD, MPH, or MBA. Candidates should have a strong academic background in public health or related fields, with a focus on health program management.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 15 years of experience in supporting health programs, particularly with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and state departments. Experience in malaria program management and a strong understanding of public health challenges in India are highly desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but is not required.

- Program Management and Leadership: Lead the design and execution of multiyear strategies for malaria programming and fundraising. Develop collaborations with other vector-borne disease programs and guide program performance reviews. Ensure effective program execution through the development of results frameworks and operational plans. Track program progress and analyze data for improvements. Facilitate fundraising efforts through grant writing and documentation reviews.
- Relationship Management: Develop key relationships with governmental and donor entities, ensuring alignment and buy-in for programmatic activities. Maintain a stakeholder matrix for the malaria portfolio and guide the program team in navigating complex relationships.
- Strategic Communication: Regularly update stakeholders on program progress and challenges through reports and presentations.
- People Management: Build team resilience and foster a collaborative environment. Provide guidance and monitor the progress of team members, ensuring their professional development.
- Financial Management: Oversee program budgets and ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.
- Problem Solving: Proactively manage program-related risks and lead compliance with WJCF’s problem-solving approach.
- Technical Expertise: Develop subject matter expertise among the program team and promote knowledge sharing at national and global levels.
