Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a range of responsibilities that include monitoring and analyzing human rights developments and trends in South-East Asia. They will be tasked with researching and drafting internal and external notes and reports, particularly preparing daily news updates on the human rights situation in the region. The intern will also support SEARO's engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies. Additional duties may involve assisting in the organization of workshops and seminars, maintaining and developing information and resource tools, and updating content on the organization's website. The intern will participate in meetings and conferences, taking notes as required, and will perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Applicants for the UN Internship Programme are not required to have prior professional work experience. However, it is essential that candidates have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or Ph.D. program, or have already completed one of these degrees. Proof of eligibility must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant academic program, such as a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree.
