Job Overview:
The position of Facilitator/Community Volunteer involves working under the direct supervision of the FAO Program Manager in Tunisia. The volunteer will contribute to community mobilization and communication activities, as well as the implementation of field initiatives. The role requires active participation in organizing and executing communication activities with local communities, including awareness sessions and field meetings. The volunteer will also support the dissemination of information related to FAO programs and initiatives to target groups, thereby enhancing local community participation in agriculture, livelihoods, and rural development. This position is crucial for establishing effective communication channels with farmers and local stakeholders, collecting feedback from communities, and facilitating dialogue between beneficiaries and FAO teams. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in identifying community needs and challenges, documenting essential information, and supporting the implementation of FAO field activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support community communication and awareness: Organize and implement communication activities with local communities, including awareness sessions and field meetings; disseminate information about FAO programs and initiatives to target groups; enhance local community participation in agriculture, livelihoods, and rural development activities.
• Strengthen communication with farmers and local communities: Establish effective communication channels with farmers, beneficiaries, and local actors; collect feedback, opinions, and comments from local communities to better understand their needs and challenges; facilitate dialogue between beneficiary communities, FAO teams, and local partners.
• Collect information and support the identification of community needs: Assist in gathering and transmitting the needs, proposals, and feedback from local communities to the program team; document essential information and data collected during field activities; identify difficulties that may hinder the implementation of activities and propose improvement suggestions.
• Support the implementation of FAO field activities: Contribute to the preparation, implementation, and initial monitoring of field activities within FAO programs; provide logistical and organizational support during field visits and community activities; collaborate with the program team and local partners to ensure effective, inclusive, and participatory implementation of activities.
• Collaboration and coordination: Work closely with the FAO team and local partners to ensure good coordination of community activities; promote a participatory approach that places local communities and beneficiaries at the heart of program implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate the ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups. They should have a good understanding of agricultural practices and rural development issues. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances is essential. Candidates should also exhibit integrity, respect for diversity, and a commitment to professionalism and accountability.

Educational Background:
A degree in agriculture, rural development, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in community engagement, communication, or project management will be considered favorably.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in community mobilization, communication, or project implementation, preferably in a rural or agricultural context. Experience working with local communities, NGOs, or international organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges faced by rural populations and knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, and proficiency in French is highly desirable. Knowledge of English or other local languages will be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This is a national volunteer assignment with no guarantee of renewal. The contract duration is specified, and the volunteer is responsible for their accommodation and essential needs. A monthly living allowance is provided to cover housing, utilities, and basic expenses. The living conditions in Tunisia are favorable, with a Mediterranean climate and a rich cultural heritage. Volunteers will have access to health insurance and annual leave of 2.5 days per month.
