Job Overview:
The UN Fullstack .NET/React Developer position is integral to the OICT's Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS), which develops and supports a wide range of enterprise solutions. The role involves designing and developing web applications and services, contributing technical expertise to requirements analysis, and ensuring high-quality solution design. The developer will be responsible for maintaining detailed documentation of changes and managing version control using Git. Additionally, the position includes providing third-level application support and problem resolution for deployed applications. The consultant will work closely with the team leader and is expected to engage in the development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new applications, particularly those with Geospatial and/or AI components, adhering to UN-established standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will perform a variety of tasks, including:
  • Participating in the development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new applications with Geospatial and/or AI components.
  • Preparing technical and user documentation for deployed applications, as well as creating training materials and conducting technical presentations.
  • Providing ongoing support for deployed applications, including version management and troubleshooting, while responding to user requests and conducting reviews with users and developers.
  • Staying updated on developments in the field, performing benchmarking, and proposing new tools and libraries.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the team leader.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates must have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in building web applications using React and .NET Core, as well as experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, SQL, and REST APIs. Experience with Azure Functions, AI, and GIS is desirable. Applicants must also be authorized to work in China, as the UN will not sponsor visas.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as computer science, information systems, mathematics, or statistics. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of qualifying experience, demonstrating the candidate's capability in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in building web applications, specifically with React and .NET Core. Candidates should also have substantial experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, SQL, and REST APIs. Additional experience with Azure Functions, AI, and GIS is considered an asset. The role may also require the ability to travel abroad for project-related tasks, indicating a need for flexibility and adaptability in various work environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also required, as it is another working language of the UN. Familiarity with other UN official languages is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Deqing, Zhejiang, China, and is expected to last for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. The consultant will enjoy 10 paid UN holidays per calendar year, following the UNESCAP office calendar in Bangkok.
