Job Overview:
The position of Chargé(e) du soutien psychosocial at WFP is crucial for enhancing the well-being of employees and their dependents, particularly in challenging environments like the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role involves providing psychological support and counseling services to staff, ensuring they can cope with the pressures of working in humanitarian crises. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that address the psychosocial needs of employees, conducting briefings for staff before and after deployments, and collaborating with various teams to foster a supportive work environment. This position requires frequent travel to different locations, often with short notice, to provide on-the-ground support where it is most needed. The Chargé(e) will also be involved in training initiatives aimed at improving team dynamics and resilience among staff, making this role integral to the overall mission of WFP.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chargé(e) du soutien psychosocial will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing counseling and empirical support to WFP staff and their dependents, considering cultural differences; conducting pre-deployment and post-deployment briefings for staff assigned to emergency or difficult locations; developing training programs based on trend data and requests from other divisions; collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address psychological risks at individual, team, and organizational levels; providing emergency counseling services and follow-up support after critical incidents; maintaining and supporting the network of Wellness Support Volunteers; identifying local and regional mental health resources for referrals; ensuring continuity of care in collaboration with the Division of Well-being and Culture; participating in the development of policies and guidelines; compiling statistics for reporting purposes; and maintaining the highest ethical standards in providing psychological services.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (master's or equivalent) in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychiatry, or a related field from a recognized institution. An active license or registration as a mental health professional with a recognized government association is mandatory. Additional training or certification in areas such as substance abuse, resilience, intercultural communication, conflict resolution, mediation, and trauma is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of counseling practices and the ability to create a confidential and trusting environment for clients.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree or equivalent in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychiatry, or a related discipline. Candidates must also hold an active license or registration as a mental health professional with a recognized governmental body. Additional certifications in relevant fields will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of post-university professional experience in counseling, with increasing levels of responsibility, is required. Experience working in challenging or difficult duty stations or providing counseling services to personnel in high-stress environments is highly advantageous. Candidates should have a proven track record of effectively addressing the psychosocial needs of individuals and teams in crisis situations.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken French is essential, along with proficiency in English. Knowledge of Swahili and Lingala is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with diverse populations and improving service delivery.

This position is a service contract (SC8) with a duration of 12 months, subject to renewal based on operational needs and resource availability. The role is based in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and may require frequent travel to various locations.
