Job Overview:
The Communication Assistant position is a volunteer assignment under the supervision of the FAO Programme Officer. The role involves supporting the implementation of communication and visibility activities, particularly in the context of FAO's initiatives in Tunisia. The assistant will be responsible for creating digital content, managing social media platforms, developing communication materials, and producing multimedia products. This position is part of a broader initiative supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Tunisia, focusing on youth inclusion, especially for young persons with disabilities. The assistant will contribute to showcasing FAO's projects and their impact on food security and sustainable agriculture in Tunisia, thereby enhancing the visibility of FAO's work and fostering community engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on digital content creation and social media management. Creativity and the ability to produce engaging multimedia content are essential. The role requires adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. A strong understanding of communication strategies and the ability to analyze social media performance metrics will be beneficial. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate professionalism and self-management skills, as well as a commitment to the values of accountability and teamwork.
Educational Background:
A background in communications, media studies, public relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital communication tools and platforms, as well as experience in content creation and social media management. Familiarity with the agricultural sector and issues related to food security would be advantageous.
Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in communication and a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the FAO's initiatives. Experience in volunteer work or internships related to communications or public relations will be considered an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in FAO's communications. Knowledge of French is considered a valuable asset, as it may enhance communication with a broader audience and facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This is a National United Nations Volunteer assignment, and the contract duration is specified in the assignment details. Volunteers are responsible for their own accommodation and essential living needs. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover basic living expenses, along with life, health, and disability insurance. Additional allowances include a lump-sum entry allowance and a resettlement allowance at the beginning and end of the assignment. Volunteers will also have access to career development and learning resources, as well as annual leave of 2.5 days per month. An end-of-service allowance is provided upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
