Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build pathways to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impacts of climate change. Established in 1961, WFP operates in over 80 countries, employing thousands of staff members who work tirelessly to ensure effective humanitarian assistance reaches millions of people globally. WFP is recognized for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, and it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to combat hunger and promote peace.

Job Overview:
The position of Stagiaire national (e) en Finances at WFP is designed for university students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in financial and administrative tasks within a humanitarian context. The intern will work under the supervision of the Finance Officer and will be involved in various activities that support the operational capacity of the Finance unit. This internship aims to enhance the intern's understanding of financial processes, compliance standards, and management mechanisms implemented within WFP. The role is crucial for the effective management of resources and transparency of operations, contributing to the overall mission of WFP to achieve Zero Hunger.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the physical and electronic filing of financial documents in accordance with internal archiving and traceability requirements; participating in the basic verification of documents prior to their filing or submission for review; assisting in the preparation and updating of simple financial tracking tables, including invoices, payments, advances, and other financial records; contributing to the administrative follow-up of payment files under the supervision of the Finance team; supporting the collection, organization, and provision of documents necessary for internal controls, reviews, or audits; participating in data entry, reconciliation, or simple verification of data in Excel or other tools used by the Finance unit; contributing to the follow-up of files related to suppliers, partners, missions, operational expenses, or other routine transactions as needed; and assisting the Finance team with any other administrative or financial tasks compatible with the intern's learning level and the operational needs of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a university program and have completed at least two years of studies in finance, accounting, management, economics, administration, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates may have recently graduated (within the last six months) or be enrolled in a master's program in the aforementioned fields. Proficiency in office tools, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate rigor, organization, discretion, and respect for confidentiality. A strong capacity for learning, teamwork, and a professional attitude are also required. Excellent written and oral communication skills in French are mandatory, while knowledge of English is considered an asset. Candidates must be able to travel and work at the internship location and must not have direct family ties (child, sibling) with any WFP employee.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being a university student who has completed at least two years of studies in finance, accounting, management, economics, administration, or a related field. Recent graduates (within six months prior to application) or those enrolled in a master's program in the relevant fields are also eligible to apply. This educational requirement ensures that candidates possess the foundational knowledge necessary for the financial tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position is relatively low, as it is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates. Candidates should ideally have some exposure to financial concepts through their academic studies, but extensive professional experience is not necessary. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and learning opportunities rather than requiring prior work experience in the field.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in this language for both written and oral tasks. Knowledge of English is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication in a multicultural work environment and enhance the intern's ability to engage with a broader range of documents and resources.

Additional Notes:
This internship is expected to last for a duration of two months and is primarily educational in nature, aimed at providing practical training rather than serving as a permanent position. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer or a designated member of the Finance team, with guidance provided at the beginning of the internship to clarify tasks, expectations, and relevant internal procedures. Regular follow-up meetings may be organized to assess progress and adjust priorities based on operational needs. The internship is unpaid, and WFP is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive work environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
