Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant (PCPQ) position at WFP is crucial for ensuring that food assistance is accessible, equitable, and accountable. The role involves supporting the implementation of the Unified Case Management system (UCM), which integrates monitoring and community feedback mechanisms. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: supporting people-centred assessments by integrating protection, gender, disability inclusion, conflict sensitivity, and accountability considerations; organizing and facilitating community consultations, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews; collecting, compiling, verifying, and maintaining assessment and monitoring data; documenting and analyzing information on protection risks and community priorities; supporting the implementation of monitoring and accountability activities; promoting safe access to assistance for all community members; liaising with partners and field teams to support program implementation; providing technical support for reporting and knowledge management; and actively engaging in learning opportunities. The role may also involve additional duties as assigned by WFP management.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of protection, gender, and accountability to affected people (AAP) in humanitarian action. They should have excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collect, organize, and analyze information from various sources. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree or certified diploma in communications, social science, international development, law, international studies, human rights, political science, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the importance of community engagement and protection.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian and development work at the field level. This experience should include supporting assessments, community consultations, monitoring activities, and data collection. Familiarity with working alongside communities, partners, and field teams is essential, as is experience in preparing reports and maintaining program records. A strong background in protection, gender, and accountability in humanitarian action is crucial, along with demonstrated skills in advocacy, negotiation, and interpersonal relations. Prior experience in facilitating training and workshops is advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and for ensuring that program information is accessible to all community members.
