Job Overview:
The Safety Assistant (Radio Operator) is a critical role within DRC, primarily responsible for monitoring and recording all movements of DRC vehicles and personnel. This position requires the individual to actively monitor information networks and provide timely updates to local alert groups. The Safety Assistant must maintain a high level of alertness and discipline while following the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situation in the relevant operational area. The role involves working shifts, including night shifts, and is office-based, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and commitment to safety protocols. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate effectively, manage information flow, and ensure the safety of personnel and operations through diligent monitoring and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safety Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Monitoring and communicating the movement of DRC vehicles and personnel within the assigned operational area.
• Collecting hourly and daily location reports from the assigned trip or team leader.
• Distributing received messages and information promptly to the appropriate individuals.
• Monitoring verified information networks and providing regular updates on the security situation.
• Informing the immediate supervisor or manager of any changes in the security situation, incidents affecting personnel safety, or any unforeseen urgent situations.
• Ensuring confidentiality of information regarding personnel movements and operations.
• Utilizing GPS systems effectively to track DRC vehicles and verify that tracking devices are operational.
• Updating contact databases for all DRC staff in the area.
• Transferring relevant trip information received during shifts into the appropriate documentation. 1
• Monitoring air security situations in various regions. 1
• Conducting weekly checks of communication equipment. 1
• Providing briefings and instructions to staff before trips. 1
• Supplying staff with necessary safety equipment. 1
• Completing any additional tasks as assigned by the manager.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet several required qualifications, including:

• Ability to work shifts, including night shifts, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
• Good proficiency in English, ensuring effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
• Basic computer skills, particularly in Excel and standard office tools, to manage data and reports efficiently. Additionally, desirable qualifications include:
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and contribute positively to the working environment.
• Proven capability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage responsibilities efficiently.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to evolving work processes.

Educational Background:
While a degree or diploma in a relevant subject is preferred, it is not strictly required for this position. The emphasis is on the candidate's ability to perform the duties effectively and their willingness to engage in on-the-job training to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Experience:
Candidates are expected to have at least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role or field. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to handle the responsibilities associated with the Safety Assistant position, particularly in monitoring and communication within a safety and security context.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication and reporting. While not required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is initially set for 3 months as a probation period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position is classified as non-management (Band: І) and is based in Kyiv. The start date for the role is as soon as possible. The salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts, starting from EUR 1465 gross per month, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
