Job Overview:
The Associate Director of Programs at CHAI Cameroon will provide strategic and operational leadership across the country program's portfolio, which includes various health initiatives as outlined in the CHAI Cameroon Country Strategy 2026–202
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in public health, business administration, health economics, health policy, or a related field is strongly preferred. A bachelor's degree with exceptional, directly relevant experience will also be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including managing complex, multidisciplinary programs. A demonstrated track record in business development and resource mobilization is essential, along with experience managing multiple programs simultaneously. Fluency in both French and English is required, as well as experience working with government officials and international donors.
Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a Master's degree in public health, business administration, health economics, health policy, or a related field. A bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by exceptional, directly relevant experience. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of managing health programs and engaging with various stakeholders.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience, with a focus on leadership and management of complex health programs. - This role involves overseeing program clusters and cross-cutting areas, ensuring that each program is technically sound and aligned with the overall country strategy. The Associate Director will also lead business development efforts, manage the funding pipeline, and represent CHAI Cameroon externally to government counterparts and partners. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with senior government officials and donors, demonstrating a commitment to results and a strong track record in fundraising and program management. This position is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and may require occasional travel within the country and regionally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership and Portfolio Management (25%): Provide leadership and oversight across CHAI Cameroon's program clusters, ensuring clear objectives and performance metrics for each program. Serve as a senior advisor to Program Managers, monitor program execution, ensure compliance with administrative and financial requirements, and support the formulation of sub-awards and partner agreements.
- Strategic Direction and External Engagement (25%): Provide strategic direction for portfolio growth, represent CHAI Cameroon in engagements with government bodies and partners, and develop technical expertise across disease-area programs. Facilitate strategic discussions with stakeholders and align program strategy with national health plans.
- People Leadership and Team Management (20%): Manage and mentor Program Managers, support hiring processes, and serve as a trusted advisor to program teams.
- Business Development, Fundraising, and Portfolio Growth (30%): Lead resource mobilization efforts, drive donor diversification, identify new programmatic opportunities, coordinate proposal development, and oversee grant and donor management. Note: The duties outlined are core functions but may expand as the program portfolio grows.
