Job Overview:
The National Consultant/Psychologist will play a crucial role in developing and delivering a training program aimed at enhancing the psychological resilience and occupational well-being of law enforcement professionals working in specialized domestic violence units in Kazakhstan. This position involves creating a practice-oriented training module that addresses the challenges of professional burnout, occupational stress, and emotional self-regulation. The consultant will be responsible for adapting the training content to the specific needs of the officers, ensuring that it is relevant to their operational realities. The training sessions will take place in 2-3 pilot regions of Kazakhstan, focusing on gender-responsive and survivor-centered approaches to domestic violence. The consultant will work closely with UN Women and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure the training is effective and meets the needs of the participants. The role requires strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage participants in interactive learning methods, ultimately aiming to improve the psychological well-being of officers and their capacity to support survivors of domestic violence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review existing information on the mandate and functions of specialized domestic violence units in Kazakhstan to tailor the training module accordingly.
  • Engage in consultations with UN Women, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other experts to identify the psychological challenges faced by officers.
  • Develop a comprehensive training module that includes materials on preventing professional burnout, managing occupational stress, and enhancing emotional self-regulation.
  • Deliver the training module during two-day sessions in selected regions, utilizing interactive adult-learning methodologies.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from participants to refine the training approach and develop practical recommendations for ongoing support of officers' well-being.
  • Ensure that all training materials are finalized and submitted, incorporating insights gained from the pilot sessions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in occupational psychology, with a focus on professional burnout, occupational stress, and psychological resilience. They should have proven training and facilitation skills, particularly in adult learning contexts. The ability to translate complex psychological concepts into practical tools for law enforcement professionals is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required to effectively engage with participants and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in psychology, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Relevant professional certifications in stress management, trauma, or psychological resilience are considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in psychology is required, particularly in areas related to occupational stress and psychological well-being. Candidates should have experience working with law enforcement or frontline professionals, providing training or capacity development in high-stress environments. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs focused on stress management and psychological resilience is essential, as is experience in creating practical psychological tools and materials for professional audiences.

Languages:
Fluency in Russian is mandatory for this position. Working knowledge of Kazakh and English is considered an asset, enhancing communication with a broader range of stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is home-based, with required travel to 2-3 pilot regions in Kazakhstan for the delivery of in-person training sessions. The training is scheduled to take place between 28 September and 9 October 202
