Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Reporting Associate plays a crucial role in supporting UN Women's mission in Nigeria by ensuring accountability, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making across its programs. This position involves tracking program performance, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing high-quality reports for both internal and external stakeholders. The Associate will support results-based management processes, document progress against strategic objectives, and ensure alignment with UN Women's corporate reporting standards. Additionally, the role includes strengthening knowledge management systems and facilitating the dissemination of lessons learned and best practices. By providing accurate and timely reporting, the Monitoring and Reporting Associate contributes to the effectiveness of programs, enhances donor confidence, and supports the overall impact and sustainability of UN Women’s initiatives in Nigeria.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical inputs to program formulation to ensure monitoring and reporting are incorporated, including developing monitoring indicators, calendars, and quality assurance processes.
  • Support partners in developing Performance Monitoring Frameworks (PMFs) and Baseline Surveys.
  • Facilitate the clearance of donor agreements and Programme Cooperation Agreements.
  • Coordinate with the Programme Team to ensure standardized data collection and analysis from field visits.
  • Monitor data from partners on a quarterly basis and provide inputs for management briefs.
  • Visit partners to support monitoring of results and planning processes.
  • Monitor donor fund spending and other program expenditures.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of the UN Women Nigeria CO Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Plan.
  • Facilitate internal and external reporting processes, including annual reporting. 1
  • Review progress reports from partners and provide feedback for improvement. 1
  • Collect and maintain data for corporate reports and evaluations. 1
  • Coordinate the implementation of UN Women’s Evaluation plan in Nigeria. 1
  • Draft Terms of Reference for evaluations and ensure communication regarding evaluations. 1
  • Identify and disseminate good practices and lessons learned from program implementation. 1
  • Contribute to the development of capacity development tools and promote awareness of Monitoring and Evaluation responsibilities among staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, as well as experience in data collection and analysis. They should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Proficiency in using statistical software and data management tools is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as the ability to work in a challenging environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, statistics, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of gender equality and women's empowerment, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UN Women’s policies and procedures will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the official language of Nigeria. Knowledge of local languages would be an asset and could enhance communication with local stakeholders.

The position is based in Abuja, Nigeria, which is classified as a hardship location (classification C). The assignment will require the Monitoring and Reporting Associate to navigate a complex socio-political environment, characterized by security challenges and a diverse cultural landscape. The role is full-time, and candidates should be prepared for potential travel within Nigeria to support monitoring and evaluation activities.
